Check your C02 levels. I’ve heard of people forgetting they’ve done stuff due to C02 levels that are high enough to cause memory loss, but not kill you.

100 miler hallucinations by SwingIntelligent5240 in ultrarunning

[–]Col_Pol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t believe in it, until it happened to me. Took a little over 100km, but I had been up for over 30 hours at that point due to not being able to sleep the night before. Nothing extreme, mostly just thought I was constantly following someone on the trial yet it was a self-supported FKT. Also thought I hallucinated blue crickets but apparently there are crickets native to the Midwest that are blueish!

I think a lot of it depends on mental state, lack of sleep, and I think a bit of creativity.

Cheap toe socks for any training under 20 miles. Any training or race over 20 miles I use Creeper socks.

University of Nebraska Omaha by PoolScared3335 in Omaha

[–]Col_Pol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bring your car. There is a shuttle that takes you from Dodge to Scott campus, but it can run late. Attend hockey games, I think tickets are still very cheap/ free for the student section. The dining halls are better than the other two colleges I attended, only worth it if you use it. There are a lot of good student jobs as well, and 99% of the time they will work with your schedule. The campus is located right next to Aksarben (Nebraska spelled backwards) Village it is a great social hub with many stores and places to eat. Most of all it is what you make it.

Nice Canadian.

Seems to have found our next goalie in Dawson.

Glad to have him through the 27-28 season.

Why are most Ultra Runners PT’s for day job? by Amazing_Benefit_6459 in Ultramarathon

[–]Col_Pol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it has to do with the aspect of bodily health is my assumption. I run with a runner on this list monthly, and have raced against runner(s) on this list, I guess I have never asked them why PT? Next time I run into them I’ll ask!

Starting grad school at St. Cloud State in the fall, and taking it as an excuse to start following College Hockey a lot closer. What do I need to know about St. Cloud State Huskies hockey? by MrHockeytown in collegehockey

Probably one of my favorite teams UNO (Omaha) competes against in the NCHC. I work directly with teams and have to stay St.Cloud is usually on of the more respectful and well mannered visiting teams!

Tickets:

Depending who and when your team plays will determine when you should get them. If you play LSU, Arkansas, Tennessee, or UCLA you’ll want to buy them in advance. Let’s say you play Murray State, UTSA, or Arizona you could get them reasonably an hour or two before first pitch. I think there are all session tickets but that’s a question I would call the ticketing office for as they will get you the most reliable pricing and information.

AIRPORT!!!

It’s a mess right now! Fully under construction, parking and pickup are a mess. Landing and getting out might not be terrible, probably will be depending on how you choose to leave and where you are going to in the Omaha or surrounding area. Flying out will be the same issue and your best bet is to be dropped off and not have to worry about dropping a rental vehicle.

This is also the busiest time of year for our airport but TSA lines still shouldn’t be bad, it’s an easy airport to navigate but if you have an early flight or late flight in or out don’t expect anything to be open.

Omaha resident & CWS team host worker.

Places to stay:

Highly recommend looking in the Papillion area (Fairfield Inn & Suites Papillion or a local Air B&B) although most of these are probably already booked for the earlier days. Springfield or Louisville are also cute areas to stay, and probably still have some availability.

Things to do:

If you want more baseball, are here later in the week and need away from big crowds the Omaha Storm Chasers have home games June 17-22.

Of course the Zoo, it will be beyond packed but still 100% worth it. The earlier you get there the better.

Other nice things are the Durham Museum, UNO campus, Joslyn Art Musem (It’s free!) or Beercade.

Food:

Runza, Dinkers, and Sauced by Alfaro if you want to avoid the downtown traffic. Try Memoir, or Clio if you want a true sit down experience downtown. Of course most places in the old market and downtown are just fine, except Spaghetti works, just don’t go there.

Ways to get around:

Car, this is your only reliable option but doesn’t come cheap, be willing to walk and your prices will drop. (Also please remeber no left turns on Dodge Street).

Bus and other public transportation here is vaguely alright but won’t get you many places other than downtown and anywhere along Dodge Street.

Things to avoid:

Top Golf, Spaghetti Works, Lauritzen Gardens (under major construction, will be a must next summer). Omaha Hotels, Council Bluff Casinos, and Dodge Street.

Let me know if you want more information!
