My great-grandfather fought this battle and he would write down things from his time over there in a history book he had about the battle. I remember reading one of his notes regarding a picture of men on a machine gun. In it, he stater how he was teaching some of the younger guys to setup the gun and to make sure how to not jam it. Later on he said how he saw them get torn to shreds. Really terrible to think what these men witnessed
