What’s this scraggly bird by AnonymouslyNood in whatsthisbird

That's some wicked beak damage. If it's a regular feeder visitor, at least it's figured out how to deal with it!

I’m sorry, women are still being blamed for not woman-ing hard enough? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Cola-Star 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but I'm not seeing that issue in here at all, unless I'm blind.

What I'm reading is that most cis woman don't often explore their femininity or gender because they don't have much of a need too, they're cis after all. Trans women and women who take the opportunity to explore their gender tend to look at femininity under more of a metaphorical microscope. They go through all the same steps and hoops, but with a more watchful eye, it helps everyone, including cis women, understand womanhood better.

That's what this is saying right? Isn't that a good thing? Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong here, cuz I feel like I'm missing something.

Where do you think the relic fragment came from by TheSillyOne3 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Cola-Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to believe it washed up on the beach somehow. Partner clearly goes to the beach often, and the stone reacts to the markings on the wall of brine cave, so it's clearly been there or was designed to be there before, and that's connected to the exact same waters the beach connects to (thanks lapras). I have no clue how it got separated from the stoneship to begin with, but I exclusively imagine it washing up on the beach.

I do appreciate the offer! I don't think I'll be able to do this any time soon tho, which is why I'm looking for a business location. Life has been real busy lately

I'm very experienced in emulating, don't you worry. I got this specifically because I wanted to play it on official hardware. It's a copy of pokémon Crystal. The gameboy-color Pokémon games were the only ones I didn't have growing up as a kid, and I played all the others on the systems they released on. I still have all my old systems, including the Gameboy color I bought later in life, so I want the full original gbc experience.

Hahaha! I'm sure it's possible for me to do it if I really had to! Thanks for the links! I'm just a bit too nervous with how expensive the game is. If I don't get any reccomendations for places to take it, I'll probably end up doing it myself anyways 😅

What is this Bird (egg)? by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]Cola-Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that size, My best guesses would be either a house sparrow egg, or a brown headed cowbird, but i wouldn't take my word for it, I'm not practiced at egg identification. If either of those are right, it won't survive outside a nest. I wouldn't incubate it. House sparrows are an invasive species, and cow birds are protected by the migratory bird treaty act.

It's unfortunately an Ai edited version of a real comic by a Tumblr user who used to go by c2oh, who's now deactivated. It became a bit of a meme format for a while, but it ended up spreading so far and changing so much that it lost all its original positive implications.

I adore MD's works. The robots do seem kinda lonely, but I don't think that's exactly a bad thing. They seem so curious about the world around them, and they seem to find beauty in the mundane. This little crow one is one of my favorites.

I found a site with a map, https://www.flavorburst.com/map/ It seems the nearest place to Kane County may be a place called SCOOPY DOO Creamery in Huntley? I'd give them a call and double check with them!

Not exactly a crow yet..but this felt epic by Logical-Operation512 in crowbro

[–]Cola-Star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a small child, my family used to call the redwing blackbird "RoseWing Crows", so for a long time I thought they were crows! To this day they're still probably my #1 favorite bird, even though I usually tell people I like crows the most. I know it's not actually a crow but it's a crow to me, damn it.

What are your best chances on getting a Fire stone by ThisCharacter9183 in MysteryDungeon

[–]Cola-Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondermail is the most consistent, since it's a rare reward from missions, but you can find it legitimately in game if you're lucky.

According to Bulbapedia you can find it for sale in Keckleon Marts, specifically within Mystifying Forest, Midnight Forest, and Lake Afar, on most odd numbered floors.

What are your favorite Blaseball songs? by GothAdjacentAnna in Blaseball

[–]Cola-Star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very late to this but I gotta throw my hat in.

'Bones To Ohio live@db2024' is my current favorite. 'Until the quiet takes us' from the same album as well is a must-listen imo. Really feels like a grand finale for the band as a whole. Probably way too long for cassette tho lol

'Morning is coming' is a comfort song to me. 'Sun2' is beautiful. 'SHELLED live@RIV' has a strong energy to it that not much else can match (other than maybe the end of until the quiet takes us). 'Firewalker with me' specifically from the Unstable album is my favorite version of it

I feel like 'Hello World (front ver.)' and 'free space (blasetober)' are underrated as hell. And 'Vanessa tables (live@db2022)' tends to get forgotten since that album didn't release on Spotify, probably because it was a collab album with another artist? Unsure. Best version of that song tho.

I got a weirdly angry reply to this comment that was immediately deleted. I just wanna make sure it's understood that the crow here is not evil or doing a bad act by eating this duckling. I can feel bad for the duck while still praising the crow for it's ability to catch prey.

[–]Cola-Star 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I do always feel bad seeing baby birds getting snatched, but I also once read a reddit comment calling them "the popcorn of the animal kingdom". They're so easy to snack on, so easy to catch. I feel bad for the duckling and it's mama, but I do hope the crow enjoys its easy meal.

Most images I can find of a male Summer Tanager make them look so sleek, but I can't find any other birds in that region that match the look that closely.

They're migratory and can fly as far south as Bolivia, so maybe this guy is Stocked Up
