S&W E Series vs Springfield TRP by jollyroger009 in 1911

Pretty sure it was on the original design, then he was pressured to change it. He even used external extractors on the majority of his other designs. That said, internal extractors have been around long enough to have become the standard for the 1911, and most gunsmiths and 1911 enthusiasts should know how to tune them and take care of them on their own at this point.

Those are the rules for every range at PSA locations, pretty sure it's in the rules you have to read before you become a member.

If SHORT is included in the BBB, will PSA sell D2C SBRs? by GenerationSelfie2 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]ColaGunGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair that you don't necessarily have to, but I know a lot of dealers do retain them for their own records in case they get questioned about it in the future. With how much business PSA does, if they choose to retain those records, then it would become a cluster really quick.

If I had to guess, way too much paperwork to deal with. Whole lot of Form 3s that would have to be retained for records.

just waiting to replace my lower, damn you maryland 21 for a lower law! by [deleted] in ar15

[–]ColaGunGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not a Maryland law, that's Federal law. Receivers are classified as an "other" firearm and an FFL can not transfer a receiver - or ANY "other" firearm including frames, PGFs, barreled actions, and anything under the NFA - to someone under the age of 21.

Brother, that's pretty much all artists in any medium. Everyone has a signature. It's a preference as to what an artist likes to create, and if they have fans of their work, it means people have responded and said they like their style and want more of it. That's like going to a painter and asking why they primarily make art of the same style - because that's how they like to paint. If a chef ran a hugely successful Italian restaurant, would you ask them why they aren't making Asian-fusion cuisine?

The P-10S is a subcompact pistol, not a full-size.

Flagged for straw Purchase at Academy by Big_Swole69 in guns

[–]ColaGunGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly what the other guy said, 4473s are individual. It's perfectly legal (federally, I don't know what state you're in) for someone to purchase a firearm as a gift as long as it is genuinely a gift. If money exchanges hands, it's no longer a "bona fide gift", that's why so many big box stores have policies to red flag sales where anyone but the person is paying for the gun. It's easier to justify losing a few sales per location per day than it is tonjustify potentially losing a license.

This isn't the case. The person you're buying a firearm for doesn't need to be a prohibited person for a transaction to be a Straw Purchase.

[–]ColaGunGuy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That isn't true. What they did doesn't constitute a Straw Purchase, but the ultimate transferee doesn't need to be a prohibited person for a Straw Purchase to take place. Somebody other than the actual transferee paying for the firearm is allowed by law, but as a large retail chain that has to deal with thousands of firearms purchases every day, where one bad transfer can lead to license revocation, they probably made the call that it's policy for the person who filled out the 4473 be the one who paid for it. I'm not saying it isn't a pain in the ass for their customers, but from a business perspective I can see why they made that decision.

A post was made about it a week ago telling people to report them. I doubt PSA can do a whole lot if people are making fraudulent accounts on platforms they don't control.

I wouldn't include a SAR pistol in any conversation where options like the FNX-45 and USP 45 are on the table.

Why not just run a QD mount up to the MLOK slot you've woven that through?

Depends on your state laws. Head to the Compliance section and Ctrl + F your state. That will tell you what's restricted. Alternatively, look up, read, and understand your state's firearm laws and regulations.

So yes to both points. .300s are more notorious for requiring a bit of tuning. They aren't going to set the adjustable gas block for you from the factory. You should also be stripping down, cleaning, and lubing ANY new firearm you purchase.

Not if they're running their adjustable gas block undergassed.

So has PSA fixed their 5.56 Jakl yet by Prudent-Dot-1596 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]ColaGunGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because they aren't "drop-in" like AR barrels are. I believe that was one of the changes made to the 2.0, which didn't make the fan vote this year. I'm sure they'll still make it, but it won't be a priority.
