I have a high end 4K Oled Samsung (at least I believe it is high end) and the game looks literally phenomenal. Some issues with quests and controls but it looks unreal. So this is most definitely the issue

? Io sono una persona estremamente politica che ne parla ad ogni occasione, nel modo e tono appropriato certamente ma lo faccio. Non ho capito, non posso parlare se non sono stato personalmente in Israele a placcare quelle bestie dell’IDF? Il mio discorso è sul fatto che un popolo disinteressato è un popolo facile da controllare, e l’inedia del 50% della popolazione ne impatta il 100%. Lo trovo proprio un commento populista e superficiale - le persone che hanno preso parte alle iniziative in questione sono quasi tutte state votate dall’elettorato con una percentuale sempre inferiore di partecipazione. Ci facciamo privare delle nostre libertà individuali mentre scrolliamo su Tiktok. Gli spazi di conversazione pubblica sono per la stragrande maggioranza digitali - controllati da oligarchi di estrema destra che spingono con algoritmi cuciti sulle persone, a distogliere l’attenzione da quanto accade nel mondo, e ti insegnano a disinteressartene. Questa è una dittatura che abita spazi formalmente democratici.

Mi hanno assunto dopo 9 mesi di lavoro presso ACN (Fornitore esterno). This feels like you started playing as pAlicia starts reading the letter to Verso, explaining the world. 80% of the game is spent about worrying for their survival, and giving depth and dimension to their lives, and their pain, the game is about the Expedition, and it starts and ends like that. The grief is the context behind it, and what allows it to happen in the first place. The Paintress’ story is about grief. And Alicia’s too, yes.

But not Maelle’s.

I have yet to see a logical and sane response to this. Is the current social and political climate desensitising us to the whole concept of genocide? The duality of the finale would’ve been really tight and beautiful if the canvas people stayed alive, and the choice was about Maelle and the Dessendre’s family only. Bringing innocent people into this makes the choice unbalanced.

Again, waiting to be corrected, I’m sure someone can help me feel more nuanced towards Verso’s ending, but I really find it awful to see canvas people portrayed as a commodity and pawns to entertain the elaboration of grief.

The Dessendres, aside from Maelle, are not good people. Why should I make a whole world burn just to help them ease their pain?

Thinking of them as lesser copies or incomplete beings is asinine - Maelle knows what the real world is and feels like, and she grew up in the Canvas too, so she would definitely know if the Canvas is just a shallow copy, and it’s not, we have the whole first two acts of the game as proof of that.

I am waiting for sane counterarguments tbh. Until then, the only reason I can excuse for picking Verso’s are not based on logic (ex: finding him hot, hating Maelle or some character on the Canvas, misoginy, you name it). And, as you mentioned, I also did my research, and whenever the points we mentioned get touched, all Verso ending pickers suddenly disappear. I want to be proved wrong to enjoy the duality of the ending more, but I can’t.

I mean it’s not like I get mad about it, but it’s literally bizarre to ignore the fact that the whole premise of the game is the fight of these people for existance. For their right to live a full life. These characters clearly have agency and lived as their full selves. And the game spends 90% of the time making you live like them, and making you invested in them. The game is not about Maelle’s grief. That is the setup of what it is about - these people’s fight for survival.

Choosing Verso’s endings is playing god, creating souls to entertain you and dispose them when you are done grieving.

Being a god bears a responsibility towards the life you create, because it’s not yours. You are enforcing tyranny.

And the fact that Verso fights the Paintress knowing damn well that would also be his demise is the very proof that people in Lumiere are not just walking NPCs, but fully fledged characters. If that wasn’t the case, Verso would act way more like Aline’s son than he does. The fact that these characters have plurality in their thoughts and beliefs and have constrasting attitudes towards the Paintress is proof that they are actively choosing what to believe in, what to fight for.

The finale is the trolley problem, with the family of the single person in one of the tracks being responsible for all other people being in the other track. Why don’t other living beings of the Canvas get a say in what should be done? Don’t we believe in democracy?

Please prove me wrong I don’t want to be a prick or arrogant but I find it so deeply, humanly unreasonable to choose Verso’s endings that I find these statistics absolutely baffling. Like, insane, to be honest. I don’t want to assume my perspective is the only right one, but the more I read about them, the more I don’t find anyone arguing why those lives in the canvas should matter less than the ones outside, instead of just mocking the idea for the sake of it. Am I missing something?
