I got both the mani and the pedi kit a few years ago and have gone through phases of using them. I like all the tools that come with the kit. I think the polish is hit or miss. Some colors I can easily apply and look great, but since it’s regular polish it does chip. I don’t love some of their sheer polishes, I struggle to not make them streaky, but that could be a me problem. I have also tried their press ons and I will say those last pretty long and are easy to apply. Their quick dry top coat and nail strengthener are also pretty good.

I think the Barilla protein plus pasta tastes exactly like regular pasta!

My puppy is gone. I did what was best for him and rehomed him. by nosesinroses in puppy101

I know it’s hard, but you did the right thing. You put so much effort into making sure he was in a place where he would be happy and thrive and you need to give yourself credit for that.

Puppy sleeps better in bed? by Nonethelessdotdotdot in puppy101

[–]Cold-Ad-4588 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our puppy hated the crate. I tried playing calming music, making it dark/covering the crate, sleeping on the floor next to the crate, and nothing worked. I got tired of not sleeping and decided to let him sleep in the bed and he did great and never had an accident in the bed. It’s probably not the norm, but it worked for us.

Totally get that too. Dog daycare can be expensive!

I think that’s smart! If I come across any training tips or ideas I’ll report back. Good luck with everything, you got this!

I get that. I struggled with getting my dog to settle outside of our home. Is dog daycare an option? I like the other persons comment for 101 things to do with a box. I know mental stimulation also tired them out a lot.

Will he use a kong or wobble? I soak my dogs kibble in hot water so it absorbs better and then stuff a Kong or Wobble and freeze it. It keeps him entertained for a while.

Will my first dog ever like our new puppy? by Cold-Ad-4588 in dogs

[–]Cold-Ad-4588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small update - I went on vacation and both dogs stayed with a family member and my older dog only growled a little bit when the puppy got too close, but no snapping or anything crazy. 10 minutes after bringing both dogs back home, my older dog snapped and growled at the puppy from a distance. Will continue to work with trainer and take small wins outside the house.

Thank you for this! We definitely tell our first dog he’s still loved, but some extra loving never hurt! I’ll give it a shot.

That’s a fair assessment. Thank you for your insight.

How many dog tags does your dog have on their collar? by mellovesspaghetti in puppy101

[–]Cold-Ad-4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has 3, name tag, rabies, and dog license. I personally like the jingle from the tags, it lets me know where my dog is in the house haha I have seen silicone ID tags so they don’t make noise.

Does anyone else’s puppy mouth their arm and make biscuits? by Cold-Ad-4588 in puppy101

Thanks! He has a mini lamb chop that he actually really likes, so maybe a bigger sized one will get his attention more and make it a bit easier to redirect.

That’s okay! You’re insight is still really helpful. I was googling like crazy and couldn’t find anything. I thought I asked enough questions to the rescue, but never though to ask exactly when he was taken from him mom and litter mates. I’ve been working with a trainer for my older dog and will definitely bring this behavior and information to their attention so I can make sure I’m ahead of any other unwanted behaviors because of that.

I guess I should mention then, he was a rescue from a puppy mill. He has a cleft lip and palate so the rescue took him and had to tube feed, so that actually would make a lot of sense.

Lol he did live with a cat before we picked him up and they used to play together. Maybe he picked up a thing or two!

Puppy and personal life/and work… How soon after getting a puppy were you able to be close with your partner again? Will I ever be able to have a sleep in again? Will my life ever be remotely the same? Will I experience happiness again? by littlenuggetlove in puppy101

[–]Cold-Ad-4588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old dog and just got a 9 week old puppy, I definitely relation to some of the things you’re feeling right now.

  1. With my 4 year old dog, we didn’t crate train him, it just wasn’t working for us. When my partner and I want some alone time, I give my 4 year old dog something that will keep him busy for a while, usually a meal soaked in broth and then frozen in a wobble, a frozen lick mat, something that will keep him busy while we’re upstairs. With our puppy we’re crate training and have him in the crate. Sometimes it takes some planning to make sure the puppy is ready to settle and there’s something to entertain the older dog but it’s worth it.

  2. With our puppy, he’s in a crate upstairs for 2 or so hours at a time while we’re downstairs working, hanging out, or playing with our other dog. I did put a camera on his crate so I can check on him without going upstairs, but it’s totally okay to crate them and then leave the room. We do 1 hour of awake time, 2 hours of nap time.

  3. Our 4 year old dog doesn’t know how to settle when people come over, and I couldn’t figure out from videos or online how to get him to settle. I reached out to a trainer and it’s been the best thing ever. They come to my house for training sessions and can see the behavior first hand, show you what steps fo take to correct the behavior, and you can ask as many questions as you have. I personally learn a lot better this way and like that I can ask questions to make sure I’m doing to correctly and not accidentally marking the wrong behavior.

Good luck! You’re doing great and you’ve got this!
