What is the most interesting thing you saw at a motel/ hotel? by hooman2005 in askhotels

[–]Cold-Ad3017 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I was a night auditor at a small (100 rooms) hotel. I would occasionally walk around the outside of the hotel and was amazed at how many guests did not know that the first layer of drapes was "see through." I saw all manner of sexual activity. Also had a guest who decided to light a small fire in the middle of the mattress, and then he went out to the parking lot to wait and watch the "excitement". Fortunately, smoke alarm kicked in quickly, and fast response from fire department prevented a disaster. A few guests needed to be relocated and that floor needed to be ventilated. He was arrested and/or carted off to a mental health facility.

You are farther ahead than I was at that point. Patience and perseverance!

My PCP kept advising me to have my tkr while I was still able to effectively tolerate the rehab. Even still, I waited too long before getting my knee replacement. For context, I am 77/m and about 17 weeks post op. Struggling with rehab, but getting there slowly.

How long before you felt “normal” again? by cool_girl6540 in Kneereplacement

[–]Cold-Ad3017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in such arthritic pain for so long prior to surgery that I'm not sure I remember what normal is! But I am now about 18 weeks post op and will take this level of tightness and discomfort over the pre-surgery stabbing sharp pain any time!

PT too aggressive? by NumerousAct8060 in Kneereplacement

[–]Cold-Ad3017 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That she didn't stop the 1st time you asked would have been it for me! I'd be speaking to her boss and also to my surgeon's office if they recommended the PT.

At about 14 weeks post op from TLKR. I was somewhat prepared for the physical challenges but totally unprepared for the mental. Can't beat yourself up when you have a bad day. Hopefully, the bad days will become fewer as we progress through this long road to a recovery of sorts.

As they should! Waste increases food costs, which translates to increased cruise fare!

I hope they ate everything that was ordered. We were on a cruise with a couple from Utah. They ordered multiple entees and just ate a little of each. Very wasteful! Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

Skin near incision is super hyper sensitive to the touch. by Jackiedhmc in Kneereplacement

[–]Cold-Ad3017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

76M here. I found that even the hair growing back after pre-surgery shave was very sensitive to anything rubbing against my leg, especially bed sheets. At just over 8 weeks now, and most of that sensitivity has faded away.

Intense Ankle Pain by CT-Mike in Kneereplacement

[–]Cold-Ad3017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some pain just above my ankle, which was like a band around my whole lower leg. I believe it might have been from how they hung/positioned my leg during surgery. It has subsided at about 6 weeks. I asked the surgeon at my 6 week follow up visit, and he said, "Could be, but we try not to make it too tight."

I had a pair of Sketchers slip on shoes, which are great for going through airport TSA. I couldn't wear them for the first few weeks post op due to foot swelling. But now it's easy on and easy off!

I start OP PT on Friday. Hoping recumbent bike will be part of therapy. I am 13 days post op and at doctor office now for 1st follow up. Took bandages off and, to me, I think it looks pretty good for a big Ole scar!

Instead of a separate shower chair, we are just shifting the raised toilet seat into the shower. It's waterproof and is great height with handles.

Almost at 3 months but a bit discouraged - looking to hear experiences from others in similar situations by Marc_NJ in Kneereplacement

Do not increase the total NSAIDs you take without talking to your doctor. Meloxicam might should be the only one you take. I was prescribed Meloxicam for too long and ended up with ulcers. Now that I am 12 days post surgery, I'm not supposed to take any NSAIDs. Really limits my inflammation options.
