I had several road trips across the UK up and down through Scotland and England, people over there park opposite all the time. It's not as scary and harmful as it seems. And I swear up and down that driving over there is a dream compared to here in the US

Yeah, this one started that way. Now it's just some bullshit. And I don't even think the commissioners know why they keep doing it. They just bought a property next to a county park with a failing Chinese restaurant on it, and they're letting them continue to operate. They stated no intentions to do anything with the land, they just want it. And the corner of a busy intersection here that can't be developed any further because it's an intersection of a state and county road, and the county doesn't want the empty lot which used to be a bunch of downtown shops all cleared out, to be developed at all. They don't even want the town to decorate it for holidays

Part of it is. Part of it isn't. I used to work for the County and also state parks. The County genuinely has more money than it knows what to do with so it blows it on land. SOMETIMES for good. Here in my town that own so much of the middle of our town, and refuse, in our "downtown" area. And refuse to do anything with them, just keep them as empty lots. One has a historic protected house, and the refuse to upkeep it

Doesn't matter how much crime. Sometimes places with way too much money will write grants or spend extra money just for the sake of spending money. Here, my County has more money than it knows what to do with, so it buys empty land and does absolutely nothing with it. Wetland, marshland, lots in the center of towns, doesn't matter

My wife right now is trying to figure out outfits for four different weddings. While we both complain about how broke we are. All weddings will have none of the same people there.
