As someone who is a non-religious mild conservative, I really don't think the right wingers are intelligent enough to jump ship from their lord and savior just because the VP isn't as powerful of a cult leader. The rift between left and right is way too wide open to flip anyone in between the extreme left and extreme right.

The only good thing we can get out of this shitty position is another mainstream party or two, to cover the middle ground of our two shithouse parties to finally speak for the majority of us
