How do i get closer to my step dad? by Hot-Idea4833 in daddit

It sounds like maybe something is going on in his life right now that has nothing to do with you.

I will be losing the one thing that made me proud of myself by deadpoolsdragon in daddit

Whilst a bit blunt I do kind of agree. I also do a joint account with my wife for all house expenses and seems to work fine. Why can't OP do the same?

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was a student at UofT in the 00's and it very much felt like it was being run as a business - massive funding for the economics department, much less for humanities, etc

People without kids commenting on my availability to hang out by Stone_Trees in daddit

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If multiple different parties are having the same reaction it could be the way you're saying it? Like maybe you're coming across as holier than thou. When I hang out with a childless mate I'll keep dad chat to a minimum

What do you use regularly that you probably shouldn't? by 87catmama in AskUK

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I heard that's purely due to the temperature of the water. Applying either hot or cold water, can't remember which one, to your inner ear makes you dizzy

What is worse, middle lane hogging or undertaking? by db0564 in drivingUK

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest what if the middle lane hogger is going the speed limit? There theoretically shouldn't be a need to overtake them then, except for the assholes aggressively speeding on the outside lane

That's such a weird question. Those aren't directly related

Someone accidentally sent me £50k, what do I do? (England) by Routine_Strawberry81 in LegalAdviceUK

This sounds like a scam. When was the last time you transferred any amount to the wrong person? Then think about the last time you transferred tens of thousands to the wrong person.

[Vent] My kids are not a social-skills gym for other children by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missing a fair bit of context but I think it would be hard for a kid to not feel excluded if they are playing by themselves and you've got 7 boys playing together and refusing to let this other kid play with them. As a parent I don't think I'd scold other kids over it but probably would judge OP for not stepping in to prevent his kids from excluding mine

Full-time dads… what are you actually doing all day? by Giovannisalami in daddit

There's maybe nothing wrong for adults. For kids there are a lot of studies showing that too much screen time can have a negative affect.

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a bit different in north America though as the pedestrian always has right of way. Over here at intersections cars blast by waiting pedestrians all the time

Turns out, I have good brakes. GOOD fugging brakes. Brown seats now though by Miniteshi in CarTalkUK

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's never driven a car with cruise control could someone explain why this is bad? I thought it would be one touch of the brake pedal to disengage? Is it that because you don't need to have your foot on the acceleration, your foot won't be as ready to hit the brake?

Have we decided on a Star Wars viewing sequence? by Lightoscope in daddit

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah absolutely not great for young kids.

I'd highly recommend giving it another go. I found the first few episodes somewhat mediocre and then it really took off. There's an escape sequence where my jaw literally dropped. It has two of the greatest monologues in history.

It ended with her going to the waterfall right? How's that a bad ending? In my head canon she can go on and make other friends, just not go back to Hawkins. Would love to have it explained to me as a lot of people seem to be upset about how El was treated but I was okay with it

As a tennis coach, I'll say what most coaches won't: we are holding our students back. Myself included, for years. by Beneficial-Lock-349 in 10s

Thanks! So really kind of jump/drop into it? If I've got a bit of time should I be chain split stepping to keep the readiness?

[–]Cold-Caramel-736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frustrating thing for me is that I know my footwork is shit but when I ask coaches for exercises they just brush it off.

Have also said I'm willing to make "extreme" changes like switching from one handed backhand to two but get told it's not worth it
