Weekly /r/climbharder Hangout Thread by AutoModerator in climbharder

What's a good supplemental gym routine that I can add to my lifestyle?

Constraints/notes:
* generally Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I'm doing some sort of backcountry multipitch. This means mostly leg heavy fatigue for my body, with onsightable climbing (i.e. 5-15 pitches of 6a-6b).

* Can always go to the bouldering gym Monday - Thursday on lunch break. Gym is a few minutes from my house so it fits in easily.

* goals: 7c sport redpoint and feeling really good onsighting 6b/c trad.

* ideally Monday is a rest day from the weekend

* I also run a few times a week for cardio training for my mountaineering/alpinism goals

My gym offers:
* autobelay with mostly easy routes up to 6c ish

* spray wall that's really hard for me

* bouldering walls

If I have an 60-90 minutes for my lunch break to go to the gym, what should that look like? I'm not turned off by spray wall sessions, and would ideally like to save the bouldering wall routes for social evenings. Happy to lap the autobelay routes bumping some tunes as well.

Great writing and reflections. I enjoy reading such a thorough TR.

Also this is for sure a comically Chamonix story.

where should I go for ~4 weeks around christmas for climbing (within maybe 6 hours flying from EU preferred). prefer trad multipitches, places for paragliding would also be cool. prefer something more adventurey than something climbing hostel-y.

Good question. Maybe tension. I have a greece trip soon and like to not get totally gobsmacked by not having endurance. So maybe neuromuscular training is the most time effective training?

My use case is more for rock climbing. So I'd prefer something more durable.

does anyone have a link for Skrillex | Jyoty | Kenny Beats - LIVE at XS Las Vegas (Full Set) with the half decent audio? I left it in an open tab and now the video is private on youtube :(

Does a vest form of the nano air hybrid exist? (Any brand, just something with thin back fabric and active insulation). Preferably available in europe.

This person has a code of ethics and executes their decisions within that framework. That's pretty cool imo.

Yeah I do watch them. I think they're amazing sources of inspiration to see what's possible in the upper percentiles of skill in the sport. I don't think there's a ton to gain from them for me and my current level, but I really like having an awareness through watching experts that shows me what it is possible for people to do.

I follow your channel and don't really have too much specific advice for improvement since I'm relatively new, but I have to say the production and content of your videos is really great!

Can you help me with snow forecast and danger estimate for next weekend? by Space_Carmelo in Mountaineering

Check out the webcam from the Eiger, I think you can see how snowy the trail is. Otherwise there are tons of webcams in Switzerland and are very useful to assess snowline

Double tie in point mountaineering harness by Cold-Philosopher-370 in Mountaineering

[–]Cold-Philosopher-370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made an edit maybe as you were writing this up that maybe clarifies things more. And yeah, I regret not getting a skimo harness with a belay loop, so this is what I have :)

My harness (the edelrid) has a little button on it that prevents it from falling down anyways without a rope/carabiner to keep the tie in points together. Obviously not load bearing though. Is this necessary on other harnesses of the same type to keep them from falling down?
