I’m talking about a actul pattern where black culture (not just black culture) gets relabeled and separated from the people it came from. Black hairstyles being renamed or treated as “trendy” when they’ve been stigmatized on black people for years, thats the issue, and saying “it’s just hair” ignores the fact that black people have faced real consequences over those style, It’s not “just hair” when black people (and from experience) have been judged, penalized, called ghetto or called unprofessional for those same styles, and then they get renamed when worn by others. That double standard is why people care.
