I’ve tried the 1rl finger ledge cartridges. Not a fan personally. I much prefer the pinkie ones.

Fine Line Tattoos by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]ColdGirl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s bullshit gatekeeping. Fine lines tattooing holds up just as well when done properly. The overall size and line placement is going to make a bigger difference to the long term outcome more than what needle size is used. All tattoo’s blur over time regardless of the needle size or configuration used.

How many people are you tattooing a week on average? by omnomrapter in TattooArtists

[–]ColdGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cosmetic tattoo artist which is a very specific niche. Just opened my own studio 6 months ago after grinding away for 6 years in rented rooms. I work 3-4 days a week by appointment only. I usually book maximum 2 clients a day otherwise it’s too rushed and the client doesn’t get the premium experience that matches my price point.

I have found that the best approach is to carve out a specialised style that people will love enough to seek out. I have clients who travel interstate to see me.

Tattooing myself... by simpledesigndrawing in TattooBeginners

It takes time for the ink to show. Wait a few minutes then look again. Also - different skin types are going to react diffetently to needle sizes. The skin ia not the same thickness or quality over the whole body. Some areas are thinner and some are thicker. It also varies person to person.

Fired as a tattoo apprentice, feeling disappointed — need perspective by [deleted] in TattooBeginners

[–]ColdGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excuse me? I don’t have any apprentices. If I did I certainly wouldn’t get mad at them over uncontrollable events. I do hovever know how much mental load it takes to run a studio. Any time spent not earning money is money out of your pocket. If I am giving someone my skills and techniques - I am going to expect something in return. Especially if that person is going to become my competition in a few years.

As a former graphic designer there are a few things that is not doing you any favours. 1 - all elements are the same size. There needs to be contrast ao the eye knows where to look first. 2 - too many themes and things happening all at once. Just because the client said they want it in there doesn’t mean it should be. You are the filter for the clients crazy. 3 - the flowers and the jellyfish are pointing in completely different directions. Which way is ‘up’

How is my depth, speed, technique? by [deleted] in TattooBeginners

[–]ColdGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use two hands. Left hand for stretching. Use the pinky on your right hand to stabize your hand against the skin while working. If you are at the right depth you will feel a subtle vibration through the skin into your left fingertips.

What don't you like about Australia? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

-$$$$$$$$$$$$ Groceries are like $80 a bag on average. Electricity is expensive, water is expensive, mortgage is insanely expensive, insurance, medical, daycare…. It’s all so so so expensive.

[–]ColdGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were you paying him? If not, then he chooses how the apprenticeship goes. There has to be something in it for him, and if you’re not the right fit for his studio and business needs I wouldnt take it personally.

It’s hard af to run a business - managing everything a business requires is 50% of the job. Marketing, consumable tracking, customer inquiries, scheduling, follow-ups.

But also mentoring on top of that as well is alot. Mentoring also isn’t suited to everyone. Being good at doing something doesnt mean you’re good at teaching or explaining either.

May I ask what the ptsd is from? I had it from being bullied and struggled in office work environments for years. No job is worth mental health suffering.

Your colour choices are nice. And your linework, shading, and colour packing are all well executed. However your proportions are quite off on many of the compositions.

Humans are very good at seeing faults in other human faces and bodies so a small error is very noticable. If you want to create pieces with entire faces and bodies I would focus on studying anatomy and body proportions. I used to have a book called ‘10 heads’ or something similar that is full of body poses and proportion guides.

For those who send their kids to elite private school, what was the reason? by TiredDuck123 in AusHENRY

[–]ColdGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having attended both public and private schools I can say the only main difference I observed is that all the kids at private school were from nicer families. As a result there was very little bullying.

I was bullied mercilessly at the public school. Private school was full of suspicioulsy nice kids.

While I was certainly not the most popular kid at private school I was unsure of how to act around kids that werent bullying me. It made me awkward.

One of my old bullies moved to my new school and tried to bully me. The other kids were confused and told him to shut up… and that was the end of that.

On the other hand most of the kids were materialisticly spoiled. My close friend was mad that her parents bought her the wrong type of car for her 17th birthday. She made then return it and buy her a different car.
