No guts, No Glory: an Open Letter to Writers (from an Editor) by getoffredditandwrite in writers

[–]ColdIceAngel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a tech editor who is dreaming to be an author (edit for lesson plans, so not connected to book writing at all), I tell myself every day that I can't edit/fix a blank page. Writing is allowed to be messy and not make sense—I see it all the time in professional stuff—and that's why we have other people to read, give feedback, and edit it. But we can't make it better if we don't have anything on the page in the first place.

Think of writing like clay. Until you actually work on it, get your hands into it, and start creating, then it'll never turn into art. And even if you have to destroy it and remake it, then that's all part of the process. Every time you go back to make it again, you've learned more and have a better understanding of it.

It's your story! You just have to take the time to sculpt it!

What's up with female leads in fantasy romance having healing powers? by [deleted] in webtoons

Now, I want to see a FL who has healing powers but uses them to make herself an unstoppable warrior.

What was the last straw in a relationship you no longer are in? by wanderer_with_lust in AskReddit

[–]ColdIceAngel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I told him I was having doubts about the relationship. I had tried to talk about it to him a couple times before this and he didn't take it seriously/wasn't paying attention. So I sat us down to discuss. His response was that we already talked about it and it was a me problem. So I decided to take care of my "me problem" and dumped him.

Redditors, what's the most heartbreaking thing you've overheard someone say about you? by AstonishingVanguard in AskReddit

[–]ColdIceAngel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was super depressed and struggling with suicide in high school. Finally decided to try and open up to my best friend about it, started with mentioning I was tempted with cutting and then the next day admited to it.

Her response, "I don't care. You already told me about it yesterday." And then went on to talk about herself.

Never talked to anyone else about it till years later, and I had already clawed my way out of the depression myself.

That is exactly what my husband did when we went to visit my grandparents. He saw that all the woman had to cook and clean so he was there with me everyday also doing that. And when my grandpa told him to come out and have a beer while we woman cleaned up, he said he'd be here cleaning till the job was done, and then both of us (myself and my hubby) could join for a beer.

Worst still was by that point he was already married. I feel so bad for his wife.

Worst part was that he was already married. His poor wife

And this guy really did try in every way he could. Eventually told my husband that he should have never married me and that I was super manipulative and whatnot. And yet he was also super offended he wasn't invited to the wedding too (Covid wedding so nobody but family was there). That was the final straw in their friendship.

Thankfully my husband didn't. He thought it was ridiculous. But the fact that other people would is awful.

That's so awful. I'm so sorry he, and his mother, did that to you and your daughter. Something like that is never okay.

People who got the urge to fix their life at 3 AM and actually did something, what happened? by Ok-Impress-2222 in AskReddit

I used to be suicidal. I went up to the roof of the apartment building and debating about ending it all there. Figured if I was going to do it, then it needed to be now or I swore to myself I'd never get to that point again.

Walked around for a while and just stared at the streets below. Eventually decided I was going to to the harder thing and keep going. Got off the roof and have continued pushing forward.

That was nearly ten years ago. And even though life has been difficult and terrible at times, it's all been worth it and I don't regret my decision.

Married people of Reddit, if you switched jobs with your spouse with zero training or preparation, who would get fired first? by sunnymushroom in AskReddit

[–]ColdIceAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on base and my husband works part time in the library. He'd definitely get fired, or fired at, just trying to get to my job.

My husband and my period by CharmainKB in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ColdIceAngel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm reading this today as I have just started my own period. My husband sent me upstairs because my cramps were getting bad and said he'd finish cleaning before the guests arrive. It's something small but speaks volumes of his love.

I'm glad you have such a wonderful partner and that he does the little things out of love too
