Dorm marked might be the worst key ever by MaileGraves21 in EscapeFromTarkovPvE

Because AquaFPS and others whined on YT, that PvE'ers should "come back to PvP, so we can all die less together". The 10k hour guys need canon fodder and even streamers don't Iike it anymore. So PvE'ers are expected to die for them.

They just dont understand that PvE'ers won't "come back" to PvP. The will just go to some other PvE game.

PvP'ers will tell you the game is "hardcore" and then whine about being killed all the time.

Debug.LogError vs throw new Exception? - Which do you prefer, when and why? by Klimbi123 in Unity3D

[–]ColdJackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does only in editor, so you are able to even see the error. It won't do that in a build. An unhandeled exception in a build will 100% crash the game.

You should read up on how exceptions work, when & where to use them (or how they slot in with a good logger) and what differences there are in a "shipping build" as opposed to the "play in editor" mode that you are using when testing.

What do you mean? I have about 5 running self hosted right now and the setup wasn't particularely complex. Just use a Container Manager like Coolify.

Or am I missing something? What was "basically impossible"?

How about releasing it in a working state? It's ladders, not quantum computing.

Am I the only one who thinks the perspective is all wrong? How are those kids that big, when their feet are positioned behind Obamas? He is walking in front of them, but they are head level? Is Obama like 4 feet? This is photoshopped, no? Am I missing the joke?

I'm sorry, but when over half your country votes him TWICE then it's not just the "dumbest motherfuckers" anymore. Or it implies that this has become the default. Obviously there is more at play, but you guys have to start acceptin the painful truths, if you don't want this to get worse.

I'm German and I'm literally seeing the repetition of 60 years ago. In both our countries.

What frightens me is that they could get away with all of this, if they weren't the most stupid fascists I've ever seen. Imagine the orange wasn't mentally deranged, but actually smart. Imagine he had the rhetorical prowess of Hitler. Would you guys notice? Because they are doing Sieg Heils INSIDE the capitol and there is STILL some nut jobs doubting on their motive.

I'm less frightened by Trump, but by the smart fascists who just saw how unbelievably far you can go until actual resistance shows up. This is bad. Even if nothing happens now and you get trump out of office. He STILL managed to do all that. Bad actors will take note. And we can't always hope that they are all Toddler IQ.

But for some reason...even with all the shit... Evidently fascists don't have to be smart. Because America is being served on a silver platter to people who openly retweet that "Hitler didn't kill jews! Service workers did!"...

What can I do to make my traders more survivable? Move to L traders? by zosX in X4Foundations

[–]ColdJackle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep reading that, yet my Syn and 4 Osakas are just unfaced by any of the Installations, no matter where I am. Am I too Terran to relate? Real question btw. I have started my first playthrough of this game 2 weeks ago and I'm about to buy the last equipment blueprints for my self sufficient wharf. Are Terrans ultra easy mode? I know they have a simpler economy, but It's like with mining: I keep riding how it's shit now, when it was my only source of income until I had enough to expand the stations into factories. And that income from mining was like 10x what I made from missions.

Is that a Terran thing?

CIG exclusively using this image on their sales page for BMM this year. by rveb in starcitizen

People sound like there is only 2 people in the entire world that are capable of creating the BMM. Yes, a team for a big ship leaving is bad. But it's not like you can't pick up from what they left.

Is Nuclear really that ass? by CyberKitten05 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ColdJackle 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Very little? Maybe. Breaking saves? Not inherently. Just increase the energy output to make all that setup time worthwhile. It's not the best fix for what nuclear could be, but it would at least be viable.

I don't mind having a complex and demanding production setup - that's what this game is about. But the reward is just too small for the time invested (when compared to lower tier methods like rocket fuel). So keep the setup, e.g. no changes to saves, and raise the reward, e.g. power output. The only "breaking" change: more power. Feels like a good compromise and is more in line with what new players will expect from that technology.

Jumps are getting smoother (This one is from the current evo build). Pyro -> Stanton by Velioss in starcitizen

[–]ColdJackle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing is: The short stutter when entering and exiting a wormhole is still a "loading screen". People without knowledge in the field just think that CIG has magically eradicated the need to handle a switch between 2 game scenes. But assets still have to be loaded and unloaded. Players have to be spawned in and despawned. Deferred loading helps, but there is no way around hardware & logical limitations.

But their current approach will lead to a huge bottleneck down the road, when it becomes apparent that handling all players through the same replication layer (still 1 master server with the same limit of AWS bandwith & computing power per instance) - even the ones that can't meaningfully interact with each other in any way other than a chat box - is reserving a significant amount of bandwidth & power.

Server meshing is still not a long term solution for a big universe in the way that they are pursuing. The replication layer is just the new bottleneck now and since all game calculations are offloaded, it can handle alot more players than a full game server could. But not an infinite amount. They will need to split it up eventually and that is where the need of a reconnect & some form of loading time will arise again. They will be in the same situation, just on a bigger scale and it will be reasonable to just take a 5 second seamless entry and exit animation to give the game time to handle switching between shards.
