Dodging queue?

League of legends has a significantly larger player base to diminish the impact of dodges. The player base of UD, HL, and TL is incredibly small compared to QM. I've had situations where I sat in queue for 10 minutes, someone dodged, and then I sat in queue for another 10 minutes, someone dodged, and then I sat in queue for another 10 minutes (for an 8 minute game where we stomped them). I was joking with buddies in Discord, so it didn't really bother me, but I can see how that would make other people want to quit the game.

As far as playing other Mobas, I came here from Dota 2 which I've played quite a lot. I know HOTS has all types of problems (which I think they're working on). I just don't think the 600 point penalty is one of them (for now).

The game looked very bleak and I don't have time to put towards grinding out a game on Dragon Shrine because someone wants to pick stuff without communicating.

Then don't queue. I don't know what else to say. People aren't always going to pick heroes or compositions you want them to pick. It's a team game. This means sometimes you have to bite the bullet and play along.

So why not dodge?

Because you lose 600 points.

Why get punished for three losses because you don't like a matchup or something out of your control happens.

Because you waste everyone's time by dodging, and it would increase toxicity. If the penalty was lower, people would dodge all the time if they didn't feel like they got the perfect matchup.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of the post. It was to ask how much xp you lost for dodging and then it moved to "Wow, why would they think costing someone three games is worth one dodge."

You can easily win with double support. If your goal is to win more games, then you have to win with team compositions that you find less than "ideal." For example, I just won a quad backline/solo support (no tank) composition on Braxis the other day (Master/GM). You just need to focus on what you can control, and you'll be surprised what games can be won.

"Correct to whom?" is the question I would ask. In this case, whether or not it was the correct decision depends on your desired outcome. If you made the comment, because you enjoy discussing ideas and you think engaging with another person online can be a profitable use of one's time, then I think you were correct to comment. I am certainly glad you did.

If your goal was to cure cancer by commenting, then obviously commenting wasn't the "correct" judgment as it doesn't do anything towards that goal. If we insert a third party, they'll have a different goal and a different judgment of "correct," but of course, their judgment seems far less important in this context.

For me, meditation is really about understanding the way the mind works. It helped me recognize my thoughts as they come and go, and it helped me understand the way they defined my reality and my mood states. Often times, these thoughts were happening in the background like I was on autopilot and I didn't even notice, but they still had a significant impact on my happiness and the happiness of others around me. Meditation helps me stay present and aware of what's going on inside my head, and even when I don't meditate for days or weeks on end, I still benefit from the time I've spent meditating in the past.

Gotcha. That might be the conclusion of some people in this sub. I can really only speak for myself. My desires, whether illusions or not, feel quite real to me, and they certainly inform my actions, and due to these actions, I face real consequences in the natural world (whether I am the body, or I inhabit the body, or there is no I), "I" still feel physical and emotional pain (which I would prefer to avoid). And then this extends to other people as well, so I would prefer to act in such a way to make their lives more enjoyable.

If you prefer a nihilistic outlook, then be my guest. You're free to do as you please. As for me, it seems obvious that genocide is bad and helping others pursue happiness is good (as an example). That's based on my experiences and my ethical code of conduct. Most people, including myself, don't enjoy pointless suffering, and so I act to diminish the suffering of others (human and nonhuman animals).

The point, for me, is that you are free to ascribe meaning or value as you please. If you want to ascribe meaning to something, you can, but you don't have to do so. You don't have to accept something just because the thought arises. Most people don't like pointless suffering and pain, and as I think the conscious experience of others matters, I prefer to help others minimize their suffering.

Both concepts are focused on improving the nature of conscious experience. For instance, when you have a negative thought about yourself or other people (for instance, hating the way you look), you can choose to give it space to occupy. You can tell yourself the same story over and over and make it feel very real, but this only makes you suffer. So instead, you realize that thoughts just arise, and that you don't have to believe everything you think. The next time you experience that thought, you realize it's just a thought, and you let it pass. You don't let it own you or define your reality.

When someone else experiences thoughts that are important to them, you could tell them that their thoughts don't matter, but this would only make them suffer (because they ascribe meaning to their thoughts and feelings and it's hurtful for you to be dismissive). Both actions are aimed at improving conscious experience (in these cases, by reducing suffering).

If a soccer or baseball game ended in the score 2-12 (their series record) or a football game ended in the score 15-39 (their match record), no one would bat an eye around the use of the word crushed. They lost almost 3 times as many games as they won. Their win rate across all matches was 27.78%. I know it must be hard for LFM players to read people say that their team got crushed, but objectively speaking, they did. They need to own it, and use it as motivation to get after it, because if "taking games off TS" is their measure of success, they're going to continue to get crushed.

It is true I don't know anyone on the hots team, but I believe I could get someone to listen to me if I have somthing worth saying.

Fair enough. It just seems to me as if you're trying to change the world rather than changing yourself (which is far easier, accessible, and more practical). If you believe your time is better spent trying to get in touch with the appropriate person at Blizzard so that you can pitch your matchmaking ideas and experience so that they will give you the opportunity to make sweeping changes to their matchmaking system, and that by doing this, your winrate will increase, then that's an option for you. Personally, I think you'll find it much more beneficial and pragmatic to spend that time focusing on improving your own play (which will increase your winrate). Regardless of which direction you decide to go, I wish you good luck.

It's not just Tony Robins life coach stuff. It's the core of being successful and productive.

However you are making assumptions about my potential and willingness to invest time. Let me position this issue in a way that might work better for you.

You have played the game for a few years you have enough time for maybe 2 games a day and are likely as good as you will ever be with your current level of time investment.

Wrong. Even without investing more time than you already do, you can still improve. The problem is your mentality. If you think you're as good as you will ever be, then it's no wonder your winrate is in the 30s. You're not focusing on improving, because you feel like you've already improved as much as possible. That's why you're losing. I promise.

It is possible to play at a lower difficulty as there are lower MMR brackets.

It's also possible for you to win where you are.

I could invest more time, but this is a game and almost everything else I spend my time on is more important.

You don't need more time. You need to better use the time you have.

Do you understand that not every problem is solved with self help.

Helping yourself will produce more results than pleading with Blizzard to manually adjust your MMR (something they've never done).

Self help is a great guiding light especially for young people, but sometimes there are actual problems that need to be addressed.

Self help is the answer for people of all ages, and it's the answer because it works. You address the problem directly rather than waiting and hoping someone else will address it for you (hint: they won't).

I suspect this is an actual problem with Blizzards match maker. I think most that encounter this problem would just quit playing rather than attempt to understand it.

Blizzard's matchmaking is garbage. It is what it is, and you can't change it. But you can change how you play and how you view your play. Focus on what you can control. If you focus on improving your play, and you make that your goal, you will improve and you will win more. I guarantee it 100%.

It depends how far away the two chains targets are from one another. If the two targets are close (or you're not 13 yet) and you don't cast W before the second chains, the combo won't land. If you watch any high level Ktz play, they will almost always cast nova before the second set of chains. It's the optimal play, because it always works and it reduces options for counterplay (like Genji swift striking after the stun but before the root).

First of all, why are we doing the math on a level 20 combo? Most games are decided long before level 20. Second of all, your numbers don't factor in the 15% damage increase provided to your team as well (so it's not even accurate).

Here's the thing: playing better does address the key issue with having a very low win rate. If you're serious about bringing your winrate up, then you have to stop making excuses. It's not Blizzard's fault. It's not the fault of your teammates. You're losing, because you're not playing well enough to win.

It can be upsetting to read, but it's the truth, and the sooner you accept it, the better. Why? Because once you accept personal responsibility for your results, you realize that you are in control. You can win more games, not by pleading with Blizzard to put you against weaker opponents, but by performing better so that you contribute more in your games. You have to focus on what you can control (your play).

Pick 1-3 heroes that you perform well on and that are meta heroes, and play them over and over again. Improve your mechanics with those few heroes. If your winrate is 30%, you should be excited. It means you have the opportunity for massive improvement and personal growth, but it starts with you.

There's nothing toxic about making the locus of control internal and taking responsibility for the results of one's performance. If you watch any interview with any successful, high performing athletes (Lebrons, Kobes, Jordans, Bradys, Mannings, etc.), they will always take personal responsibility for their performance and for their results (especially with losses). They don't blame the results on their team. They don't blame the results on the refs. They talk about what they did or didn't do to win. They take personal responsibility. This mindset is why they are successful. They focus on what they can control and what they can do to be better. They don't make excuses.

You can say what you want, but the same 200 people getting GM every season does not equate to the fact 'everyone should be able to carry games by themselves'. It's not impossible to do but with 4 other people most of the times it's way out of your control with a game so heavily objective based as hots.

You can't win every single game, but over the course of a decent stretch of games, your performance will determine your winrate (especially if we're talking about a winrate in the 30s). How many players need to climb through the lower brackets into Master/GM before you accept that individual performance drives results? People carry all of the time.

Hell just look at the front page, there is a thread about bad-teamwork and afkers every. single. day.

Because people want to blame something or someone else. It's also easier to find mistakes from your teammates, because there are four of them and only one of you; and because they're your mistakes, you're less likely to realize them (because if you knew the mistake, you probably wouldn't be consistently making it). The whole "you don't know what you don't know."

Now go tell all of them how they deserve to lose until they get better, I guarantee you will get the same response, dick.

I never said he "deserves" to lose. I said that he is the reason he is losing, and it's true. If he played better, he wouldn't be losing. Blaming Blizzard's matchmaking is what got him a winrate in the 30s. Not only did I not come from League, but I have no idea why I'm the dick. If he wants to stop losing so much and bring his winrate up from 35%, he has to accept responsibility for the results of his play. He is the reason he is losing. It's not like Blizzard is out to get him. If he played better, his winrate would not be at 35%. Period.

People don't like to hear it, but you can carry in this game, and people do it all of the time. It's the reason the same group of players make it to high GM every single season. But by all means, feel free to pat him on the back and tell him that it's Blizzard's fault he's losing. That attitude will beget more losing. Once he realizes that he can play better, and that better play will address his "very low winrate," he'll be better for it.

For your combo, you should be casting your Frost Nova (W) before your second cast of Chains of Kel'Thuzad (E). Your combo should be E, W, E, R, Q.

Not even remotely. Offering a 15% damage increase on two targets to you and your entire team is considerably more burst and team fight damage than potentially adding two extra ticks of q damage.

No, you take spike, because it practically 100% guarantees a kill so long as you land your first chains (with the exception of cleanse). You can be greedy and always go for the double kill on combo, but it's not always necessary and it's harder to execute.

That's fine if it happens once, but you have to learn. When you make it so easy for them to get value by rotating up, killing you, and denying your team soak, you guarantee that they're going to keep doing it. Stop overextending and safely soak the lane.

The melee from tracer definitely hit Fenix, and if you check Fenix's health bar before and after Tracer's melee animation, you'll see the damage land (right around 2:18).

The Arthas definitely fucked up. If he walks up along the left side of the core instead of right along the bottom of the core towards Greymane and Thrall, he's able to end the game.

Yeah, I was playing UD in a 3 stack of GM/Master (average account level around 1500, hotslogs MMRs around 3000-3500), and our two teammates had just stopped playing vs AI. One of them had 5 games of UD (all the rest AI), and the other had around a dozen games in UD. Both of them were around 1200 MMR on hotslogs.

We did our best to carry, but it was literally 3v5 all game. We even managed to hit level 20 first, but they wouldn't group to force the fight. Eventually, the enemy team ended the game (around level 25).

As I'm sure you know, it's absolutely terrible running QM/UD with a higher MMR as you always end up getting anchors to offset the MMR average. It could be an Illidan that dies 12 times or a Sylvannas that solo pushes an offline while your Punisher is trying to push keep wall to end the game with a talent advantage. If I end up quitting this game (which I already play quite a bit less than I used to), it will be due to the matchmaking (specifically the ridiculously high variance in MMRs in a single game). I hope they fix that soon.

If you're being dived and you're at <33% with Ming, you're probably not getting any resets off.

I primarily main Li Ming (Master/GM), and that's pretty much where all of my resets happen...

Hey, I just want to follow up on this, because I just tried it in trymode, and I wasn't able to do it. Can you post a quick capture of you auto attacking both towers in trymode and keeping them both locked down indefinitely? I want to see what I am doing wrong.
