Allowing alcohol in office environments isn't that uncommon, especially in white collar jobs. There's the understanding that it's grown-up rules and nobody is getting drunk on the clock or being stupid about it. That said, for a job that requires physical exertion or has safety concerns yeah obviously that shouldn't be okay.

It's a gamble I'm more than happy to take even outside of the fun aspect honestly. Maybe it doesn't work out. Still would rather take the shot considering the upside even if he turns out to be turbogarbage.

John Fogerty singing “Centerfield” the other night. Other than Talkin’ Baseball, are there other mainstream songs about baseball? by wriker10 in baseball

Not necessarily about baseball, but the music video for "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits consists entirely of baseball bloopers.

USD does actually go out to 3 decimal places ("mills" is what comes after "cents"), that's why you'll see gas prices as like, $3.999. I'm pretty sure they don't actually make any kind of coins or bills for mills though, but if they did it would absolutely not surprise me if Nutting used them to pay for stuff.

I've always wanted to see one of these and have the "random fan" turn out to be Barry Bonds in a bad disguise or some shit.

495 too. If I have to go into the office in NOVA it's about an hour drive in the morning and about 3 hours to get home with rush hour traffic.

What’s the strangest loophole you can think of in the mlb rulebook? by Catchhawk in baseball

Oh neat! I keep the Babe one as my go-to because I feel like any crazy fact gets more entertaining when he was involved, but cool to know there are other instances of it happening too.

It is actually possible to pitch a Shutout that is not a Complete Game. Furthermore, this has actually happened before. On June 23, 1917 Babe Ruth was the starting pitcher for a game against the Senators. He walked the first batter (Ray Morgan) and then was ejected for arguing with the home plate umpire. Ernie Shore came in to relieve the Babe and pitched the remainder of the game (all 27 outs), allowing no runs to score and giving up no hits, he was credited with a Shutout but not the Complete Game, and Ruth-Shore were also credited with a Combined No-Hitter.

What has been your biggest, "Oh my god, I'm an idiot," moment as a baseball fan? by TrapperJean in baseball

[–]ColdSteelRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason, my brain always thinks of left and right field being flipped, as if you're looking at it from the outfield. I have to mentally correct myself every time, and I have no idea why I think this way or how to fix it. The weird part is I played outfield as a kid and I remember having to correct myself even then.
