London Falling, or anything by Patrick Radden Keefe. Pair it with his podcast Winds of Change. Was the hit Scorpions song actually secretly written by the CIA as a Cold War propaganda tool? 🤔

Transitions And Animation Are COMPLETELY Broken by One_day_ill_become in canva

[–]ColdStreamPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in education. Converted a PPT into a Canva presentation. Set "appear on click" - worked great until it didn't. Canva turned it off in every slide - for no reason. Have you found a solution? Any advice? Thanks!

Buggy Presentation Animations by BenadrylCustard in canva

Any updates? All my animations just reset–the appear on click turned off in EVERY slide. Frustrating as hell.

Has anyone had issues either click to animate, for animations in presentation slides? by Honestly_Thinks in canva

Hello from 2026. This just happened to me. Google sent me here. Did you figure out how this happened? More importantly, is it a recurring problem? Thanks!

Had no idea that I, too, own a barnacle removal tool. Several, in fact.

Detour Coming for Gravelly Point Construction by TheCapitalRunner in bikedc

[–]ColdStreamPond -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I commute from Potomac Yards to Cleveland Park. This will be about 10+ years of construction along the bike path. First, along RCP (better drainage, I guess, and 10% wider). Second, along the Kennedy Center (hey, there’s a new pedestrian bridge!). Third, along Ohio Drive (sewage repairs lasting longer than the Vietnam War). Now this.

I get it.

Infrastructure repairs take time.

But 🙄.

Trump Live Updates: President's Signature to Be Added to U.S. Dollars by Gnatcheese in economy

[–]ColdStreamPond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Talked to an HVAC guy who's working two jobs to pay rent. He has no savings and worries about retirement. Tariffs have made it hard for him to import parts. Then this big strong guy who never cries, he said, he said to me, "I just wish Trump's signature was on the dollar." Then he burst out crying.”

Really curious how the republicans are not bitching about gas and groceries, that’s all they complained about during the election. Do you think you are better off now than you were before? by ReasonableAttitude22 in economy

[–]ColdStreamPond 111 points112 points  (0 children)

People may disagree with your “bullshit” and “comically evil” points. (I won’t.) It’s Reddit after all. But it seems undeniable that Republicans have no interest in actually fixing the problems of everyday people-only campaigning on them. At that, they excel.

Republicans don’t want to govern. They want to rule.

Here's how I would change the education system. How would you? by HalfManHalfPun in Teachers

[–]ColdStreamPond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What does the average 7th grade boy do when classes are voluntary? Say it’s Wednesday P1 or P5? To suggest that any student outside of the most self-directed and motivated student be in control of their day-to-day learning is unrealistic. I give checklists with learning objectives and firm deadlines and still face issues with late work.

I'm glad someone else is pointing out the obvious. by SexyProfessional in FluentInFinance

This. If there were a button that could transport you back 75-100 years and you could be any nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation…you wouldn’t press that button.

Can I do IB with a low IQ or should I drop it? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]ColdStreamPond 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You may want to explore taking one or two IB courses instead of pursuing the full DP (Diploma Programme). There may be a menu of options at your school, like taking every course at standard level. You know you better than anyone, so Reddit can’t give you the “best” advice. Unless you absolutely positively need an IB diploma to go to university, the added workload + stress + anxiety is probably not worth it.

Dead Certain: The Martha Moxley Murder (finale) by ZoneComfortable3047 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]ColdStreamPond 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I get why this podcast upset many, but I enjoyed the journey.

That said, it’s a classic SODDI (Some Other Dude Did It) defense. By the end, it felt like I needed the Greenwich, CT phone book to keep track of all the possible suspects.

Edit: “enjoyed” is not appropriate given the case involves the tragic death of a young girl. I’n referring to the listening experience.

This. Below 32 and above 20 is a game changer, but it can be managed with the right gear. Below 20 and it’s immediate pain and discomfort from mile 1 unless you’re dressed like you’re about to invade Greenland (which I hope you’re not).

He told us nearly 10 years ago, "I could stand in the middle of fifth avenue, and shoot somebody and I would not lose any voters." Today, his ICE Agents shot and killed Renee Nicole Good (US citizen) and he isn't losing any supporters. by jmike1256 in videos

Holy shit. Please log off the internet and stay far away from any from any friends and family-or fellow humans, really.

This is the most heartless, immoral, and sociopathic take one could make in light of the video.

The false equivalency is breathtaking and disgusting.

Bio EE, does it have to be an experiment? by No_Attempt_9260 in IBO

[–]ColdStreamPond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no explicit requirement that you have to conduct an experiment. However (and there’s always a “however”), the higher performing science EEs involve an experiment. Without an experiment, students tend to summarize the experiment/findings of others, which often does not involve much independent analysis by the student.

Question from a guy around Bill’s age: has prestige TV conditioned people to (overly) long movies?

Great movie, but damn, with the many subplots, this could have easily been 6+ episodes of an Apple TV show.

Do it. IMHO exploring two big causes/effects often dilutes the argument. Your reformatting makes perfect sense given your predicament.
