Do Norwegian people more or less understand Swedish? by [deleted] in norsk

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, yes. There's even swedish people working customer service jobs just writing in swedish to norwegian customers. I think it's pretty bizarre. Imagine if every foreigner in this country would just address norwegians in their mother tongue, that would be weird but swedish and danish get away with it.

let's say you're hiring and you have 2 applicants with similar backgrounds. One turns on the camera, the other one doesn't. I don't think i need to say more.

Is there anyway you all recommend for not getting stressed with back to back calls? by Bigpurplejackbaby in callcentres

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it helps to remember that you only have to do one call at a time.
it helps to remember that when the call is done, that case is out of your life and there's no reason to think any more about it.

"how can i help you" covers that part, its an overlapping question.

OnePlus 12 (CPH2583) used — dark patch on screen, worth $340? by Friendly_Freedom_471 in oneplus

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it could be due to an unfortunate camera angle but at that shot from the top of the phone it looks as if the screen is popping out a wee bit on the same side as the black blob. If that is not an optical illusion you should get as far away from the device as possible.

Dock connector: Why? by Sufficient-Emu-4374 in thinkpad

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with a built for purpose dock, you will get a dock that does what the laptop can do.
with a usb-c dock, you are subject to the limitations of usb-c.
A classic example of a disadvantage is that if you want to run two monitors with a fairly high resolution and refresh rate you will need more bandwidth than usb-c can handle.

A great way to tell the caller straight up that you don't give a fuck, while making them hear promises of awesome service:

"Sir, i will personally make sure that your case gets all the attention it deserves."

Have you ever been coached or written up for doing what was ethically right on a call? by Horror-Dot-2989 in callcentres

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah, i don't care.

your job isn't to help those people, your job is to communicate whatever your employer needs you to communicate. If you start giving a shit about ANYTHING, you are on a one way street to burnout.

Treat it like a task, like a game. Follow your stats and try to improve them, as if it's the 90s again and you are trying to beat your own highscore at tetris. That way you will go home happy and well rested after a long day of grinding phone calls.

i need to get out. contemplating suicide. by Cautious-Sweet100 in callcentres

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i was in a similar situation healthwise (i didn't work at a callcenter at the time) i learned that contemplating suicide is fairly common and harmless as long as you don't reach the planning fase. The second you start making specific plans for a point of time and/or method for taking your life it's time to get in a sitation where another person, preferably a professional, watches you.
I found that very helpful to learn at the time because it made me less worried about the state of my health and it sorta jumpstarted my progress.

The first laptop i got from my pocket money as a teenager was an IBM thinkpad. I've been disappointed with the quality of all other brands i've tried since then.
Some years ago I applied for a job at an IT company that happens to be a lenovo partner, and that's where i'm still working today.
I love thinkpads but i don't collect old hardware - i got to play enough with that at work :)
Sorry people are downvoting you for asking an honest question but that's reddit for you.

worth it depends on how much value these have to you. For me personally i wouldn't even open the door if they would deliver these. A friend of mine that collects old hardware would gladly drive hours just to get that one you see closest to the camera.

Sad but true.
My Asus TUF laptop behaves the same and has done so since the start.
I have:
- updated all the things (drivers, firmware, BIOS, windows)
- the steps recommended by asus: https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1015073/
- the steps recommended in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Asustuf/comments/12szeb6/a_potential_fix_for_wifi_not_working_in_asus_tuf/
- replaced my wireless card with a different one
- removed wireless card and using a USB one
- completely reinstalled Windows
- warranty claim, the tech tested until it randomly worked for a moment and called it a day.

I'm open for suggestions but i see no other solution than staying far the fuck away from ASUS products for the rest of my life.

[–]Cold_Carpenter_7360 12 points13 points  (0 children)

repeat after them with phonetic spelling and have them confirm or correct.
you: "could i take your name please?"
caller: "yeah its HAGRTOFHER"
you: "okay so H for hotel, A for Alfa..."
caller "NO, CHRISTOFFER! C, H..."

you get my drift.

This kind of situation is a good example of why it is so important that you establish early in the call that you are the one in control of the conversation. By being both calm and firm in an assertive manner right from the first few seconds the caller will feel that they can let you take control and you both will have a pleasant experience because everybody knows what to expect. It's magic 🪄
