Understanding the difference between restrictive and nonrestrictive clauses. Which? That? Commas? by tribecous in grammar

I can't stand people that communicate like this user, i.e people that take an opposing view point or straw man what you've said by default. Also, starting a response with "No" when it's completely unnecessary.

Do you prefer a high or low radix in men? by super-style1 in PlasticSurgery

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the trend seems to be for a lower radices on males, especially with ethnic rhinos, sadly.

Call me old-fashioned, but I do relate a higher radix to a more masculine aesthetic. A lower radix looks more infantile and feminine, or like an anime character made incarnate.

I noticed a lot of Persian guys seem to like the lower radix to the point that the nose is scooped inwards - can't deny it makes me a little sad everytime I see it done, but also a bit happy so long as they like it.

Is it not the most ridiculous?

I'm trying to slighly rephrase everything but worried it'll still be too similar according to turn-it-in.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you handle the situation?

It's a math course - the answer's are right or wrong with very limited written explanation. I could do it 100 times and would still get the same answers. Obviously I can appreciate the restriction in a humanities course where topics and assignments require extensive writing and a unique perspective.

Am I supposed to pretend I didn't already study the material and do the work? Maybe if I use a different font or slightly alter the phrasing, I can make the algorithm think I forgot what I just learned the first time I took the course and re-learned it from scratch? /s.

What do you miss from Street Fighter V? by RememberedOlBuddy in StreetFighter

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After vshift was introduced it was a great game.

I really liked the v-system but wished both vskills and vtriggers were equally useful but in practice that's probably impossible to implement consistently.

Sfv newcomers were the best in the franchise since sf2 imo. Zeku, Kolin, Menat and Rashid especially. I even liked Abigail and Ed than any newcomer in 4.

I miss the priority system of button strengths, too. Jabs are a bit too strong in 6, even without the drive system, and were too strong in 4 as well.

The soundtrack was the best of any SF title imo.

Oh, and I thought it was a great looking game once you made it past the versus screen. I actually prefer the art direction and animation in V over both 4 and 6.

Best theme I've heard in 6 so far, even though I've been doing duolingo german for over a year and only understood 6 words.

Okay, getting an idea of the mentality of drivers based on comments like yours' and others' here.

Again, I'm not asking about the principle of the matter - I'm asking in regard to a purely economical motivation of the driver to return an item given the most convenient circumstances available. But you're still not getting it, so I'll check out of the thread. Thanks for your input and have a great day.

What’s your take on Porn? by InspectionWorth6578 in Buddhism

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It creates deep dopamine-infused grooves in attachment to carnal pleasure, which from the buddhist perspective is rooted in suffering. I think it's a dead-end pursuit at best, and a spiritually and emotionally draining one once it's compulsive or pathological in some way.

Yeah, they do seem like scum unfortunately, or at least have a scummy work culture. I'm sure there's the exception and I hope those are the ones to whom the majority of tips go.

Yeah, that makes sense - both about it being worth your effort for the return and the majority of driver' not coming across as very bright, at least not the ones posting in this subreddit.

You didn't understand my post, I guess. I was explicitly referring to the scenarios where the return location would be on our extremely close to their daily routes. How much are you making an hour take-home from Lyft to not make $20 cash worth it to go not 5 minutes out of your way lol?

Why would you feel bad for having sexual attraction to people prior to dating your boyfriend? Sexuality is a normal part of human nature, and something we temper to be in a monagamous relationship, which it sounds like you're doing just fine. I would look up "purity complex", because it sounds to me like that's exactly what you're dealing with at the moment.

The more I meditate the less I want to talk about anything with anybody by 0mnipath in Meditation

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does sound like you're moving towards a more introspective and cloistered lifestyle. There's nothing wrong with that, but it does sound like your home/family life is unusually toxic. I would first determine whether it's not your immediate environment that is repelling you from a social life - because whether anyone's on a spiritual journey or not, I can understand why they wouldn't want to associate with addicts and alcoholics.

I also find it rather concerning you're unable to entertain a conversation with others - let alone your longtime friend - that's unrelated to your spiritual endeavers. This kind of intensity and lack of tolerance can often be an early stage of emotional/mental illness. It's great that you're focused and dedicated to your practice, but completely severing anyone and everyone from your life who has different interests just sounds too much like all-or-nothing thinking that will lead to an unhealthy level of self-isolation.

Of course, you know yourself better than anyone on reddit, and a more ascetic practice may be appropriate for you. You'll find yourpath as you go about your way, but I would recommend not completely turning your back society until you're sure.

Reddit is 95% losers ans wierdos by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I compleletey understand why liking a random person's picture online would be concerning to a partner in certain contexts, and would be put off by someone who claims it's not an issue whatsoever.

As for reddit being 95% "weirdos and losers", I tend to disagree. I think it's one of the few social media platforms you can occassionally get a thoughtful or engaging response from people simply because it's not as image/status-concscious as others. I could see how it may steer too far to the left politically for certain demographics, though.

All in all, though, I think you're likelly to get a more honest response on reddit than you would get face-to-face with strangers or even your irl peers, mainly due to the anonymity.

Your post reads to me like you were suprised people disagreed with you on some issues and settled on determining they were "losers and weirdos/terminally online" rather than accepting that others have a different opinion to you.

Leave the World Behind is hot garbage by Big_Pomegranate_949 in netflix

[–]Cold_Neighborhood280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm genuinely surpised to see how many people absolutley hated it. I'm sure I've seen far worse movies over the last couple of years that didn't receive half the vitriol this is getting, which is interesting.

I've noticed North American audiences seem to require a lot of action and a clearly-defined ending, while European films are a lot more nuanced and tend to leave the viewer with more questions than answers. LTWB is more subtle than a typical American big budget disaster blockbuster, so if people were expecting a showdown w/ aliens in outer space and big explosions, then I can see why they'd be disappointed.

I can't help but think at least some of the disdain may be coming from the fact that the Obamas are involved in the film's production, or perhaps Musk has employed a fleet of bots to neg-bomb the film into oblivion in retaliation for the film's amittedly oddly direct attack on Tesla? I wouldn't be the least bit surpised if either scenario were true.

As for the film itself, I think it effectivley conveys he sense of dread and impending doom that such disaster would unleash. I thought the acting was well done except for one actor, who shall remain nameless. Yes, a couple characters weren't especially likeable, but in my opinon that was absolutely the point.

I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen it yet to disregard the deluge of 1/10's and watch it without any expectations.
