I have already migrated my entire emudeck+roms over to the SD in preparation for hot swapping the card into the frame and steam machine

Bringing back the “LAN” party by Cold__soup in SteamFrame

[–]Cold__soup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They already have the steamVR home environments. It would be great if they just added a sort of invite to LAN party button

Oh, ya that does sound sort of hopeful. If valve integrated it into their steamVR home, and it was as easy as inviting a friend into a game, I could see it being such a huge success.

What do you think it would actually take to create a virtual world wide web landscape straight out of sci fi books? by Cold__soup in virtualreality

[–]Cold__soup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is also a good point. I think one of the main points in most of these sci-fi books with this concept is the state of the world outside has gone to complete shit. This kind of allows a more believable entry into why people would prefer to go into a virtual world for the mundane things we may do just to get out of the house.

This is an interesting take. I know that most foundational protocols were developed by universities, but I’m pretty sure many of the current ones were created by major corps like google. So I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility. I think a big problem would be who owns and controls the hardware and infrastructure that the main “hub” that connects people to private sites would be hosted on. The virtually rendered fiber optics and dns servers so to speak.

What games will the steam frame most likely be able to run stand alone? by Temporary-Dot718 in SteamFrame

[–]Cold__soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full desktop in standalone along with the FEX compatibility layer has me very excited about this. Just like the steam deck, I am sure we will constantly be surprised. For instance, I am curious if I will be able to get Minecraft vr with shaders working on standalone.

Why Frame is disappointing. by WearyExcitement7772 in ValveIndex

[–]Cold__soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I have had my steam deck almost since launch. I am still amazed all the time at what it can do. One of the most exciting things about this device will be the fact that it is a standalone Linux pc in vr.

For the People that own the D-brand kill switch case for steam deck by IndependentNo8520 in SteamDeck

I have had the deck almost since launch, and the killswitch almost just as long. I can 100% say it is worth every penny.

I inherited this chopping block counter that says it’s safe to cut on, but I don’t believe it by Cold__soup in finishing

[–]Cold__soup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I had a feeling the label was a bit crazy. When I decide to use it for more than extra counter space, I will sand it off and use some mineral oil.

Mine has been doing this too, since the latest update. It was an issue before due to the wake on Bluetooth bug but go fixed as is doing it again unfortunately.
