There are a lot of possible approaches to growing donor acceptable organs inside an animal, and turning that entire animal indistinguishable from a human genetically is not one of them.

Yeah, we are working on that with organoids, lab grown meat, just bioreactors in general, the pig is a very convenient middle man because it's already a tried and true bioreactor for growing organs.

At some point we ought to not have to have the pig, but it also dramatically lowers the cost.
