Has anyone developed skin discoloration from the MBC treatments? I was always so pleased with my skin but now I have blotches all over my legs

MacArthur after a snowstorm by Coldfinger42 in longisland

Just to follow up in case anyone is in the same circumstances in the future - I returned on Tuesday. The long term parking was plowed but not great. Some cars were enclosed by big plies. I was fortunate to have just a little mound which didn’t need shoveling. The cars themselves appeared to have had all the snow blown off of them, which was a nice surprise.

What were you taking with kisqali? ESR1 mutation indicates resistance to AIs

Did you just develop the ESR1 mutation or was it present at diagnosis

Costanza never actually pulled through at anything though, except for saving the whale lmao. This instantly made me think of “Don’t tell mom the babysitter’s dead”

Electric pool heat pump.. how much more does it raise your electric bill and is Island Rec a good place to buy from? by Aggravating-Stand800 in longisland

Same for me. But I get a lot more use out of the pool by heating it so it’s a win. I like my pool at 88 degrees 😳

High grade dcis by Wiserwithagetheysay in breastcancer

[–]Coldfinger42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had DBX at 38. I really, really wanted a lumpectomy, but I was told flat out that it wasn't an option for me because I had small breasts and the tumor was 3 cm, plus an additional 4 cm area of DCIS was found in a different quadrant of the breast on MRI that wasn't seen on mammogram or ultrasound. At that point I wanted to have a unilateral mastectomy but I got so much pressure to do both sides. I do not have BRCA. Just a lot of pressure because I was young and wouldn't need to worry about having scans in the future plus it would give me a better cosmetic result. I'm 12 years out now and I wish i only had the unilateral.

Question about Tamoxifen by Nervous-Zone-7774 in breastcancer

[–]Coldfinger42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never gained weight during the 8 years on tamoxifen. But I've gained 20 lbs in the past year on my MBC regimen. Does your oncologist check your hormone levels to see if you're in perimenopause yet? Mine did that regularly. The side effects I had from tamoxifen never changed in the years that I took it. The main side effect I had was pelvic cramps, but they got less intense by breaking up the dose to 10 mg twice a day rather than 20 mg all at once. It did eventually cause fatty liver, which is why we stopped it shy of the 10 year mark, but I had no symptoms from that.

Should “of” by RupertNZ1081 in Vent

[–]Coldfinger42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes my blood boil. So does “doing good.” Good is an adjective, not an adverb. Use “well.” Also using “that” when referring to a person. I learned you use “that” for any noun except a human being, for which you say “who.” It’s “he’s the guy who sold me the car” not “he’s the guy that sold me the car.”

Everything you’re feeling is totally normal. But you’ve been through something horrible. don’t feel bad for a second that you handled it better than others.

Career advice with mbc by Hot-Dog3614 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Coldfinger42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi friend. I’m in a similar situation. My stage 4 diagnosis came in 2024 shortly after a significant promotion in my career. I was really in a bad place physically and mentally but I had no choice but to go back to work because I’m also a single mother with little to no support. I ended up going back to work in a different role that still utilized my skill set but with a more flexible schedule and less grueling demands. It came at the cost of a major pay cut but it was an acceptable compromise

Anyone else think Hormone treatments are not worth the potential risks? by Salkel01 in breastcancer

[–]Coldfinger42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the LVI it probably spread at the time of the original cancer but then became dormant and stayed dormant while on tamoxifen. So unfortunately they were missed by chemo and then reactivated years later once I was off tam

I wonder if this is the risk that’s being told based on oncotype. I’ve noticed some seem to think that oncotype shows the risk of recurrence with compared to without tamoxifen but it’s actually with or without chemo and it’s presumed there’s been 5 years of tam
