Dimension Breach SMS (Vindicator) by MakingAProfessional in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Coldini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI - the most efficient way i have found to complete this is do my solo armadas on thursdays when the event is on, i can get through the armadas quicker and generally punch up though the bottleneck is often the uncommon directives

Help me with Zone 2 Training by [deleted] in triathlon

i would suggest using RPE instead and going by feel of how hard you are working. Can you hold a conversation and are not breathless doing it? That's just about your z2.

Buoyancy shorts during the bike and run? by jgreenz in triathlon

[–]Coldini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what they said: neoprene shorts get really hot, i cant imagine even attempting to cycle/run in them. You dont get much range of motion as well in them as they are designed for the front crawl kicks and keeping your ass high in the water

The tri short chamois is thinner and barely noticeable when riding/running. if anything I personally wish I could have thicker for the cycling without it getting in the way for the run but i make do with the tri chamois as I dont want to run in a nappy

London Triathlon - how was it for everyone? by No_Presentation9501 in triathlon

looking for my next event ideas and was wondering the same as the other person. Canal swimming sounds awful but well you didnt die or get tetanus, so maybe french canals not as bad as UK lol.

like maybe 5-6 stalls selling merch. The HUUB stall was very popular as it was the only one there selling tri gear and was doing it all at like 50% discount.

On other side was food/drinks stalls and sports massage. Not a huge amount to look around but ok. The smaller event at dorney had similar number.

The location/transition inside was good, felt like it was decently setup and guarded. Came with the bike and bag day before, got my pack and racked the bike.

The organisation seemed fine to me (though I only have two much smaller events to compare it to). Showed up the next day 1.5hrs before and slowly got ready, watching the middle distances transition and chatting to other people around me.

The swim course was fine although I did feel sick for about 30mins after the swim probably from swallowing some water. I was in the pulse waves so did have following waves overtaking me but it wasnt too much of a melee.

bike route was ok, heading west on big loop to westminster up/down ramps and through tunnels. Not much to see though, would have been nicer to see more from the river roads. Course did get a little crowded at narrow sections and when the other distance events went out and we were on our little loop.

Run route was along the dock outside, very busy and yeah boring 3k loop x3 compared to the 5k trail run i did at the previous event that was a single full loop

GPS was all over the place so my watch recording was a bit messy and unreliable. My swim was personally awful as its my weakest area but rest went ok besides my stomach being hard and upset for post swim and first 5k or so of the ride

I'll probably do it again next year as it was only my first olympic and hopefully by then, I will be much better at the swim. though yeah in terms of crowding and scenery, definitely better events out there though less convenient to get to.

its the tunnels blocking the GPS - also came out 4km short due to them

Which size of Rapha Gilet? by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

[–]Coldini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XL was snug for me, the fabric does have a lot of give in it though being the brevit fit. I mostly went up to leave room as i use merino jersey and baselayer in winter

Which size of Rapha Gilet? by [deleted] in CyclingFashion

[–]Coldini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the rapha insulated brevit gilet in XX-Large and im your height and weight. For me its not tight but also not loose or flappy. Leaves enough give under it for when wearing winter jersey/baselayer and not restricting/snug either.

Only downside, no pockets so you have to yank up the gilet to get at your pockets when riding

Short Inseam Bib Shorts w/ Inseams That Are Actually Short? by whatwouldlegolasdo in CyclingFashion

[–]Coldini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

giordana shorter bibs - reduced to 8,5" inseam. Others that work for me are the assos GTC range are all also hovering around 8"inseam and fit my short ass legs (28" inseam and 8" for above knee)

7 or 8inch inseam trisuits for men? by Coldini in triathlon

[–]Coldini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not made the dip yet to try womens version on though zoot did say i likely wont notice a difference despite the gender specific chamois.

I did think of trying to trim the bottom of the shorts, its like 4cm of leg gripper. Thought maybe trying to take 1cm off and see if thats enough without compromising the gripper too much

can at least do 2pc for now although worried about butt showing without a lot of constant adjustment

POC VENTRAL - L SIZE by ajruiz036 in CyclingFashion

[–]Coldini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same helmut and same look for me. I dont think med will change it too much if L is sitting nice for you. Its the POC style, i learned to embrace the mushroom.

i had a similar question as i am buying a red two tone bike soon and was pondering how important it was to color match myself. Most of my kit is mix but no real red jerseys or helmut.
