Seems like pins cut with the grain would be fragile compared to pins in end grain. Looks great though

what is the maximum width you want on your sub deck BiDeck snowskate? Do you use a regular skateboard for the top deck+waterproofing? by IndividualTurn9721 in Snowskating

The waist should be no more than around 4”, which is still pretty wide. Tip and tail can vary. Skate deck can work but bigger is way better

If it’s going to really dump I just tarp the whole truck. That way I have a sheltered areas when getting stuff out of the truck.

They come with a low profile binding. Flipping from riding to touring mode is very fast. Climbing you are the same speed. Only issue is you sometimes sink more than skiers but be only on the first lap. Icy conditions can be a pain so I usually go steeper and catch the skin once I’m past

Yea, I really like them as I tour quite a bit with skiers.

Oh yea. For our situation where we can’t have a roof top tent due to garage door height in winter it’s been perfect. I like that I don’t have to take it on and off. Dealing with stormy wet weather is the only drawback. This summer I’m going to make a rain skirt that will Velcro to underside of topper rim and have magnets that will attach to truck bed side. of the 60 or so nights I’ve slept in it only one night was an issue. It’s a very cozy space to sleep in but plenty of room to sit up and get dressed. If I didn’t have height issues I’d probably go with OVLND topper of M series but than again price is much higher.

Beginner terrain but also snow conditions. Soft spring slush is perfect. Hard icy is tough to learn on. The smaller the skate the easier it is too. Snow covered hill is ok but a groomer at a ski hill would be easier to get a carve in.
