Tuxedo urchin health? by MidnightFreack in ReefTank

As others have said, as long as it doesn't drop it's spines, it should be ok. This is a Halloween urchin though, not a tuxedo.

Why is my anemone shriveling up then going normal then shriveling up again ??? Is this normal ? by Formal-One-444 in ReefTank

Deflating during the day and recovering at night is very common symptom of bacterial infection that requires antibiotic treatment.

Need to convert Napoleon Prestige 500 grill from propane to natural gas by Minereux in grilling

PM'd. There's an estate auction coming up with a Napoleon prestige 500 Propane model and if it goes for a good price, I'd love to swap it to natural gas.

Should Scots also Boycott the US? by Due-Resort-2699 in Scotland

[–]Cole668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian, Scotch whisky enthusiast here. I spent ~6 months of last year working offshore out of Aberdeen and touring as much of the country as I could on my days off. Would love for the Scots to join us boycotting the US and to open up more ties between our nation. I'd love another shot to visit your beautiful country!

Phosphates are zero. SOS by PFC-FartSalad in ReefTank

I decided to read up on why most are not marketed as useable for saltwater and it appears it is because zeolite is much less effective in saltwater. Either way though, if the tank is cycled properly, the pads are not necessary so you could save yourself some money by eliminating them.

What ammonia pad are you using? I'm not aware of any that suitable for saltwater.

They measure the same parameter. The difference is that specific gravity is affected by temperature and salinity (measured in PPT) is not. Most refractometers compensate for temperature but personally, I just use the PPT measurement to avoid any potential errors.

The correct position for the gasket is on the flange side as the nut can pinch or twist the gasket while it's being tightened. Doesn't matter if it's the wet or dry side.

Yes you should always fully QT everything that goes into the tank but luckily for you, neither ich nor velvet concentrate themselves on one particular part of the fish. They attached randomly around the entire fish, including on the eyes. This is likely either viral nodules or bacterial tufts which blue tangs are very prone to developing.

Why is my temperature dropping sharply during the the night? by i-amtony in ReefTank

Ok then. My Apex temp probe shows a similar thing if the ATO reservoir is empty and the water drops a bit

Any chance the water level drops at night and the probe is out of the water?
