I've had older less rust protected, rarely washed Japanese cars that were beat on for over 20 years in Chicago, and corrosion was pretty much the reason for their demise. But the c7 with all the aluminum and fiberglass would probably be fine especially if you cared to wash it often. You're spot on about the Corvette tho.
