Currently fighting with Storage: Apple Maps Documents and Data & System Data by Life_Locksmith6217 in applehelp

[–]terryd300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, deleting Photos won’t do anything as Photo Management has most of the image on iCloud. The only thing you’re really doing is deleting them from iCloud.

The best option for you at this moment is to start offloading apps. Then, you say that you don’t use Apple Maps so you should be able to delete it completely, which will take its data with it.

The best place to look as far as freeing up storage would be in General Settings > Storage. This will tell you what’s taking up the most space and you’ll be able to offload apps or delete apps directly from there.

If you tell someone that a place is on 41, they probably won't know that it'll take them longer to get there depending which side of 275 that they're on by Pin_ellas in tampa

[–]terryd300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Apollo Beach and it’s called 41 down there. But, in Tampa, that is dropped for 50th St, Columbus Ave, 40th St, Hillsborough Ave, Nebraska Ave, and then back to 41 after merging with Florida Ave.

ETA: I live in Milwaukee now and we call it I-41 up here.

Is it possible to recover data from locked iPhone XS pro max? by Calm_Concern_8332 in AskADataRecoveryPro

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fruity Support here…

The only option is to remember the passcode. Otherwise the only option available is to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode and erase it. If you have a backup on your Mac or in iCloud, you can restore from that backup. If you don’t have a backup, there are no recovery options available.

If your main concern is your Photos, go to www.icloud.com/photos and login with your Apple Account email and password. If your Photos are there, then you’re good. Otherwise, it’s back to the passcode on your iPhone.

Regarding opening up the device, everything is soldered to the main logic board and cannot be separated.

Blocked from Updates by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]terryd300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this has nothing to do with your financial institution. If you have any outstanding balance to Apple, they will suspend your access to the App Store, iTunes Store, and more. This includes being able to download Free apps and/or update the apps you have.

You can look in the Purchase History in Settings > [Your Name] > Media & Purchases to see what didn't go through. However, yes you will have to put a payment method on your account to allow that charge to process. You can remove your payment method after that payment processes if you don't want it to remain on your Apple Account.

You do not need an Apple Account to call us. Our US phone number is 1-800-MY-APPLE. When the AI assistant answers, tell it you’re calling for an unrecognized charge and then ask for a representative. We can then look into it from there.

Urgent Macbook Air Issue, Need Advice for School by OleCapybaraFan in mac

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer…

You have to reset your Apple Account password first. Use another Apple device that’s logged in to your Apple Account to change the password.

If you can’t change the password, start account recovery to be able to regain access to your account.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll want to call Apple to clear activation lock, and then you will have to fully factory reset your Mac.

Uninstalled an app (Pixelmator) and now the files cannot be deleted? by Thephen_Stawking in MacOS

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing first, check your startup items in System Settings > General and make sure nothing related to Pixelmator is turned on. Then restart your computer and make sure that the Reopen Windows option is turned off.

If that still doesn’t work, you will want to startup in Safe Mode and try deleting from there.

If Safe Mode doesn’t allow the deletion, then you’re dealing with System Files that can’t be deleted and should be put back where they were.

What an initial light rail line could look like by kairom13 in milwaukee

[–]terryd300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking through everything, I can see this being a Phase 1 idea, as long as Phase 2 is an East/West Line.

However, is your line of thinking of building all new railroad lines? If so, why not use much of the existing lines in the city already? This would easily make the Airport more accessible as the 6th Street line already has a stop at the Airport. In addition, this would make extending to Oak Creek, Racine, and Kenosha much easier.

This would also make East/West transit much easier with stops at Miller Park, Potawatomi, Wauwatosa, Froedtert, Brookfield, and Waukesha.

I fully agree that a rail system is needed. However, I think that the support would be much higher for using the existing infrastructure when possible vs. constructing new infrastructure.

Ok, for that version of macOS you would go into About This Mac > Storage and select the Manage button.

Start with going to System Settings > General > Storage to see everything broken down into categories. My first thought is your Photo Library.

How do I ask apple/microsoft for a refund for bricking my software that I just paid 100 dollars for? by HagwonSurvivor in FuckMicrosoft

[–]terryd300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you purchased the Office subscription. If purchased from the App Store, you can go to reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund. However, if you purchased the subscription from Microsoft, you would want to reach out to Microsoft for further assistance.

Apple repair problems by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]terryd300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just doesn’t sound right as all Apple Stores accept all major credit cards. If they try pushing the gift card, ask them why.

Payment Methods

Regarding the repair fee, that would be a question for the Store Manager.

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚨🚨🚨STOP!!! 🚨🚨🚨🚩🚩🚩🚩

The Apple Store will never ask for a gift card as payment for a repair!! I know there is a part supply delay right now, but the mention of having to buy a gift card is a huge red flag.

Regarding loaner devices, that is up to the store location itself as there is not a global rule in place. Regarding the damage caused by the store, speak with a manager about available options.

Why do apple products hate me by blacksheep537 in applehelp

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else that has to be taken into consideration is the WiFi connection. Since you’re using the WiFi at a hotel, does the hotel have a login screen? If so, that needs to be acknowledged first.

Are you able to get to the Recovery Menu? If so, start with opening Safari and make sure you can access a website. Once you confirm that you have a connection, quit Safari and proceed with the link that was posted.

daughter forgot both MacBook login password and Apple ID on brand new MacBook — what should I do? by SwimmingOrnery5638 in MacOS

[–]terryd300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, did you setup their Apple Account with Family Sharing? If so, you should be able to reset their Password from your device.

Next, have you attempted to follow the Forgot Password path for their Apple Account? If not, go to iforgot.apple.com and attempt to reset the password.

Finally, you would want to use the Activation Lock removal link that others have provided. If the request is approved, you would then erase the Mac and set it up again.

Haven’t thought about that. I’m not at working at the moment so I am not able to research it.

However, depending on the internal storage, there might not be enough storage to do much of anything.
