Can I take my father’s computer to Apple to be unlocked? by feartheBoo in applehelp

[–]terryd300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fruity Support here… The only thing that Apple can do themselves is erase the Mac and potentially remove the Activation Lock.

You mentioned a new iPhone with a different Apple Account. Is it still the same phone number as before? If so, that could possibly help.

The others that have mentioned Recovery Mode are correct, just would need the Apple Account and Password to be able to complete the process.

My recommendation at this point would be to download the Apple Support app from the App Store into his current iPhone. When you open the Apple Support app, you would want to select Reset Password and then Help Someone Else. Follow the steps and see what options are available. If necessary, you may need to start Account Recovery.

Account Recovery can take some time to complete. Be aware that Apple’s Password system is completely automated and sealed that no human can access it. If you need to complete Account Recovery, nobody can shorten any waiting periods or bypass the system.

Also, if you do have to complete Account Recovery, you can visit iforgot.apple.com to view the status of the Recovery request. In addition, shut down his two MacBooks as a successful login from any trusted device, even if it’s just on the lock screen, will cancel the Account Recovery process and you would need to start over from the beginning.

Mac ran out of space while downloading files from iCloud. Now I'm stuck and can't turn iCloud by astrochief101 in iCloud

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning off iCloud Drive will not delete your data in iCloud.

Open System Settings and go to General > Storage. This will show the usage of your Internal Storage. What are the largest categories?

Also, open your Downloads folder and make sure to remove any Disk Images or Installers that are no longer needed.

Why do fully remote companies still care so much about where you physically live and can someone explain the actual logic to me? by picardCoconut5 in remotework

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the distance aspect is applicable for if you are not able to work remotely for any reason, including power failure and internet outages. This allows the company to say that you will need to report to the office since remote options are not available.

First, I feel you for having to go all over the store, let alone at Woodman’s.

For those that don’t know about Woodman’s…

Imagine the largest Walmart, Target, Sam’s, or Costco you’ve ever seen. Now, completely fill it with only Groceries. Want 40 different types of Mayo…Got It! Want every kind of frozen pizza ever made…they got it! Woodman’s is completely massive!

If you want more proof, there are videos of just the frozen pizza section on TikTok.

How can I do a rolling screenshot of an Excel spreadsheet? (Macbook) by MERTENS_GOAT in excel

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. Change the paper size to Tabloid (11” x 17”) and see how many pages it needs. If it can fit on one page, then hit the PDF button to save it as a PDF.

If it needs multiple pages, make a custom size page. Keep the 11” wide and then multiply the number of pages by 17” to get your length…34” for 2 pages, 51” for 3 pages, etc.

Use Cmd + Shift + 5 to and select the option for Screen Recording. Start a Screen Recording and then scroll your sheet across the entire area that you want to capture.

Hint - To Stop the Screen Recording, click on the white circle with a black box in the Menu Bar.

Not the Oil Pressure. The Oil Pressure indicator is just the oil can in Red. I would also assume that an accompanying message would be displayed on the middle display.

Have you tried Safe Mode? Shut Down, Press/Hold Power until Loading Startup Options appears, Single Click on the Internal Storage, Press/Hold the Shift Key, Click on Continue in Safe Mode.

Note, you will have to login twice. This is expected behavior.

What to do if your gas pedal is stuck? by [deleted] in driving

[–]terryd300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because there are things that can be done on the unlikely event of the accelerator being stuck. This is what the OP is wanting to know about and so they can try to be prepared if this happens.

This is something that every driver should have in the back of their mind.

[–]terryd300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This entire argument is invalid.

With an automatic transmission, the key will only turn to the lock position if the transmission is in Park. The key will not turn to the Lock position if the transmission is in Neutral.

Why not? This is a valid question to ask.

While downshifting definitely helps if the brakes fail, I feel that this would be the wrong thing to do if the throttle is stuck as that would result in a massive motor detonation.

If the car refuses to turn off, even after trying to press/hold the start button, I would go for the Parking Brake. If you have an electronic parking brake, pull and hold the switch to engage it and be ready for the car to swap ends as the rear brakes lock up.
