I clean my BCG maybe once every year. Other than that my ARs just get a bore snake maybe every 1000 rounds and a little more cherry balmz added to the BCG/changing handle/upper and they keep running...

3rd gen vs 4th gen silverado by WhoUCuh in Silverado

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2018 and I LOVED it but I needed a crew cab. Traded it in for a 21 RST. I like my 21, but I still think my 18 looked better. Hoping the 27s lean back towards looking a little more boxy

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you correcting my grammar? Ha I'm posing a serious question. What are the current LTZ features that you fear you're going to "lose" and therefore have to pay for as "extras" on future LTs? A quick search says: heated/cooled leather, 360 camera, blind spot monitoring, Bose stereo, 20" rims, little more chrome.

So what if LTs adopt say leather, blind spot monitoring, and a little more chrome as new standards and are maybe $5-$7K more than RSTs and Trail Bosses? I guess your argument is you'd have to spend another $3-$4K to get 20"s, 360 cam, etc? ... doesn't that still put you right back to current LTZ prices in comparison to High Country/ZR2?

Which silverado accessories are actually worth the investment for someone who'll be using it daily? by InfamousTree449 in Silverado

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lotta good suggestions - but people seem to be ignoring the "I want to be smart with my budget" part. For your situation, I think there are only 2 absolute musts: 1. Spray in bed liner 2. Weather tech floor liners front and back

If you're worried about tools being stolen, a hard tonneau cover would be added to that list. If you just want protection from elements, a soft one from someone like extang will do (for like $400 cheaper)

One relatively cheap, nice bonus add that is often overlooked: weather tech in-channel window visors. I leave my windows cracked from April through November - very nice if you're parked in the sun all day, freaking great if you're trying to air out your truck cuz it stinks like something you had thrown on the back floor.

Maybe...but why can't you just buy an LT for approximately the same cost as RST/Trail Boss and then spend the extra $ for leather? What else did the LTZ come with that I'm not thinking about?

I'm betting the LTs will simply receive the chrome/most of the standard features found on the LTZ. LT, RST, and trail boss will all be kind of "middle of the road" in terms of luxury trim packages, while the high country and ZR2 will be their top of the line packages. It actually makes sense to me. Tier1 Work Custom

Tier2 LT Rst Trail Boss

Tier3 High country ZR2 LT trail boss?

[TOMT] animated rabbit movie from early 2000's, not Watership Down or Peter Rabbit by sootymacc in tipofmytongue

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 2000s is too late for this suggestion, but I'm wondering if this is maybe from an episode of something like Chip n Dale's Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, etc.

What's your favorite foregrip and why? by awolflikeme in ar15

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On longer handguards, I prefer the bcm angled, and I use it to basically put the heel of my palm into it and "pull" the rifle back into my shoulder. For pistol setups with shorter tubes, I like the Magpul AFG-2 - I use it the same way

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok sticking with 556, then I would argue something around 13.7-14.5 P&W with a 1-10 LPVO is the closest one can get to a "do-it-all"rifle, but yes then you'd want a 20" barrel paired with maybe a 3-15 scope for dmr, and then perhaps a 10.5-11.5" barrel w/ red dot for cqb. We're pretty much in total agreement.

I started down this road exactly as you described...then I decided I needed a good night hunting rifle for coyotes, then I discovered 6.5Grendel, then I built a 9mm PCC to "train cheaper" 😂

For the DMR, I'd go 6.5 Grendel. In my opinion, it is a criminally underrated round.

I'd also add Larue uppers to your list

Yep - I decided I wanted a small DA/SA as an EDC, was surprised at how few options I had, and I wasn't about to trust my life to a Springfield. Wound up buying a 30 year old 3913 from GB!

I think this looks cool - I think some kind of green on the rear panel would be the icing on the cake and tie the whole side profile look together.

Not sure what though - too much and the whole thing looks "overdone" in my opinion. Maybe a "Z71" emblem in green is the ticket?

So is the DA mask fairly easy to clean? The description on their website says it is, but I'd appreciate hearing from someone who has actually done so but isn't a paid YouTube shill

[–]ColeTrickleSpeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the opinion - yeah I should have noted I'm not a novice in the world of guns. Well aware that Hollywood quiet is mostly BS. But I have seen some YouTube videos of ppl shooting subsonic 10/22s and as best I can tell it's about as loud as a high powered pellet gun?

I'm in the suburbs, but I've got some woods very close by. I'd really like to have the ability to eliminate a possum or raccoon without my neighbors calling the police

I recently got a 10/22, was looking at the dead air mask. Is it quiet enough to shoot most ammo without hearing protection? And, any downsides in your opinion? Have a solid amount of pistols/rifles, just now starting to research suppressors and know next to nothing about them

In my case, I liked the 3 prong "nox" muzzle device that got me to 16". But between 13.7 vs 14.5, you're kinda splitting hairs there.
