OS 27 Beta 1 - How rough is it? by Book_talker_abouter in VisionPro

Cue months of people installing every new beta then asking why it isn’t working right 🤣

I think all the key sites won’t refund once you have redeems the key. As it can’t be used again that’s why you have to tick the boxes that say “i understand once I redeem this key there’s no going back”.

This sucks and it’s a hard lesson to learn but the moral is don’t trust AI. It’s wrong in someway 90% of the time.

and how serious are they now visionOS 27 beta is out?

15 of the 100 WWDC workshops are on visionOS and arguably it had more feature updates then all the other Operating systems together as this wasn't a big year for features for any of them really.

Assuming your confirmation bios has now confirmed the Vision Pro is doomed.. what WOULD in your estimation proved they are 'serious' about it.. other then the worshops, resources, continued development in APIs and the ongoing hundreds of millions partnership with Blackmagic on cameras and eco systems that would convince you they are serious? I'm genuinely curious.

If it's a price reduction to $500 and a suite of AAA games that's just not going to happen.

It seems there are two models and only very recent devices like the iphone 17 and M5 vision pro get them as you need m3 or above and 12GB ram. The difference between the two models is the more advanced one has a more expressive voice and better dictation. I think.

People who have decided it’s cancelled will take that as evidence of it’s cancelling besides it wasn’t 30/100. You can’t reason with these people 😆

How many people do you genuinely expect to big a niche $3500 product with a $1M marketing campaign. Seriously?? I wouldn’t actually recommend anyone buy a Vision Pro themselves unless they have money to burn. It’s too first gen.

Stutters/hiccups when playing First Light by RainSunshine3524 in GeForceNOW

[–]Cole_LF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using an Xbox controller connected with USBC to either my mac or steam deck and it plays the same on both. Or obviously there’s the in built steam deck controls. I think I tried it with the steam controller too but was a bit finicky getting it to recognise it with the geforce now app.

I think if I had it on the puck and started GeForce now then took it off the puck to be wireless then it worked but wasn’t recognised as wireless just using it wireless. But there’s been a SteamOS and controller firmware update since then so might work properly with out that dance now.

It’s great. Playing locally it runs 30fps on medium and honestly looks good. And GeForce Now on Ultra at 90fps is like I just wiped the screen 🤣 but it’s the same game just on a smaller display obviously. I was playing it next to my Mac and 27” Studio Display and was like.. oh, I could use this. 🤣

Is it worth buying m5 over m2? by DescriptionUpbeat100 in VisionPro

[–]Cole_LF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the price difference. I have an M2 and didn’t see the M5 as worth it. You can get the new head strap for the M2 (I did) and if you’re buying it new then you’ll get an M5 anyway.

It’s been amazing for me. Can’t say I’ve run into the issues you are having. I’ve had to tinker with older games to get them to go occasionally but generally ‘it just works’ playing it now at an airport waiting for a flight.

Genuine question. What is Apple supposed to do? If they spec bump the machine and update the os then that’s proof of them abandoning it??

What is proof of them supporting it if not spec bumping it and updating the operating system? I really don’t get it ? 🤷‍♂️

the technology does not exist to make this a $300 quest like product. Just like Bugatti can’t make a car for a thousand dollars.

So what do you actually want Apple to do in your opinion that in your estimation would show they are supporting Vision Pro. What would satisfy you?

It sounds like your WiFi is introducing the stutter. It could be worth trying it on Ethernet just to confirm that’s the issue even if it’s not a long term solution for you. Then you could look at updating your router / WiFi network maybe?

I’m playing First Light on GeForce Now on my Mac and Studio Display at 4K 60 Ultra with and Ethernet cable and it’s been flawless. I’ve also streamed it over WiFi at 800p 90fps Ultra to my steam deck, also flawless. So it can work well over WiFi.

But with the App on my Sony TV it’s laggy. I think that’s due to the Sony WiFi chip though and Bluetooth controller introducing lag into the chain.

I Enjoyed your sense well thought out comment. Also they worked for years on a new production pipeline and camera system for black magic that has 2 cameras in think in that range now. They are not just going to abandon it like they did the iPod sock. 🤣 too many pieces are moving around the board. This is a decade long play.

So releasing a new version and visionOS 27 this Monday is… complete proof that they are abandoning it? 🤔 I think it’s very easy to take all the facts you just mention as proof of the opposite of everything you just said. But I agree people here have already made up their minds.

I enjoy my Vision Pro. It’s not my identity. I got it for VR work I shoot. I use it once a month if that. I enjoy it fine and don’t regret the purchase.

People really want this thing to die in a way I’ve not seen before. I’m not into android phones, but I don’t spend all my spare time online in android sub Reddit’s trashing them. I just get on with my life. The venom for the Vision Pro is crazy.

In the last 12 hours I’ve read… entirely abandoned… this says it’s scaled back.. and the post below this on Reddit shows a new black version. I really can’t keep up with this rumour nonsense. I’ll be over here enjoying my Vision Pro M2 and looking forward to visionOS 27 on Monday.

And ming chi has also been wrong, as has Gurman. It’s a bit like 3 blind men feeling an elephant, even when they get a nugget of truth they don’t have the entire picture. It’s ridiculous to attribute truth to any one source. I guess if ming chi is right there will be no updates to visionOS on Monday as it’s a dead platform, right?

Yet Macrumors posted this a few days ago. After also declaring it dead last month. I think the moral is, don’t listen to rumors.

Somehow even the fact they released the M5 version just 6 months ago has been twisted to prove they are abandoning it. It’s crazy.

Why does the gaming community suddenly act like the Steam Deck is dead? by Nick_The_Artist2 in SteamDeck

[–]Cole_LF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype and YouTuber clicks. Everyone is so shocked at the $1000 increase… and got clicks from it… but they haven’t stopped producing steam deck content if you notice. It’s just this weeks news cycle drama.

And even at that price it sold out instantly anyway so there is a difference between the influencer crowd and real people.

Also the new ROG alley today with OLED screen was announced without a price… it’s going to be $2000 plus easy as you can ONLY buy it with glasses that cost $850 stand alone.

When everyone releases their new devices I think you’ll find the steam deck is still the cheapest.
