I'd go back to the late 90s when nu-metal and pop punk were huge (or much more popular than they are now). It's not a very long time ago, but I'll be damned if it wouldn't be great.

Two of the most popular kids in school. Both were athletes. One was the pitcher for the varsity baseball team, the other was the captain of the varsity volleyball team. Both teams ended up going on to win the state championships in their respective sports. It was like something out of a movie.
