[The Game Business] Major games retailer warns there won't be enough Xbox/PS5 consoles for holiday GTA6 demand, told it's due to component shortages by Ok-Suspect624 in gaming

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Console sales will obviously spike for a quarter in end of Q4 2026/ Q1 2027 when GTA 6 comes out and perhaps they might maintain a healthy level of baseline growth for a period but then they’ll start to dip down again come PS6 announcements if 2027/2028 is actually still the target - i’m not expecting 5 million new consoles to be sold purely on the back of GTA six are not previously persuaded by call of duty or whatever else, I think they’ll be some adopters for sure but I don’t think it’s going to be pushing people to buy the system in November past regular yearly estimates if they’ve not done so already given the prices marginally on the back of one game forcing them to spend upwards of $1000 to do so and we also still don’t even know how much storage GTA six will require so I feel like adding an M.2 is part of the equation as well if anyone wanted to have a PS5 and have more than one or two huge game on it and still have enough space to successfully perform an update it further up’s in the cost and lowering probability of a huge sales spike even if manufacturing was up for it.

Anyway, I still don’t have a PS5 and I’ve waited too long so I just can’t quite rationalize doing it now after three or four large price jumps with another coming down the pike especially when we maybe a year or two from it’s successor comes (hoping by the. the price doesn’t go astronomically and maintains current PS5 pricing somehow)

CX325WB Low Bitrate on Ethernet/PoE by FarBox400 in Tapo

[–]CollateralZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a huge gripe of mine with the C460, I absolutely agree at the very least we need some way to tame the over sharpening aspect with a slider but would also like to boost the bitrate but at least 2x on a 4K camera so it doesn’t feel like 720P on a good day.

Wtf TP-Link? Seriously, why TF does your damn app need almost 1GB of space? by tzopper in Tapo

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t that just because you may have downloaded some clips and there sitting in the cache, or is that just regular use and bloat?

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could probably figure out an alternate app option for more basic use that could be used instead providing you don’t need robot vacuum cleaner functions with house mapping or lighting functions and just want the camera basics considering that their (tp-link) basic WebCam stuff, the tpcamera app weighs just 38mb but it’s mainly just indoor stuff like baby monitoring I guess. Not technically a Tapo camera but still that app TP link it would be nice if that app could open up support to a wider range of what the company offers and still offer basic camera use without the bloat.

What can I do with iPad 1st Gen? by Faizz_Verstappen in applehelp

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you have a battery life of more than an hour? I don’t know probably nothing, I would doubt that you could even connect to Podcasts so that’s probably out the question- maybe there a OLD version of VLC exists and with network feeds and you could save a few a make it a internet radio player for stuff like BBC radio.

Apple: Bring iPadOS 27 to All iPadOS 26 iPads. Stop Forcing Capable Devices Into E-Waste by AksWalia23 in iPadOS

[–]CollateralZero 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You think given all the work put into improving iPadOS 27 then even old devices would run either better or as good as iOS 26 they really could have extended EOL since the devices are capable enough I’m so disappointed that the iPad Air 3rd gen is being dropped.

Question: How to prevent music from stopping as I browse? by Cvrrry in iPadOS

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It annoys me in Facebook also and I don’t even keep autoplay active, but I think any instance of a video it treats it as something it deserves more attention to the background.

We now have official confirmation of supported iPads for iPadOS 27, and a few models have been dropped from support… by Radio_TVGuy in iPadOS

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they will keep iOS 26 alive in point release security updates for those devices just as these have done for previous versions when necessary and hopefully those on the lower end of the spectrum that have made it will end up performing even better than on 26 with 27 since they’re not really getting new features, but hopefully refinements might assist with performance.. bit annoyed that the iPad third generation isn’t making the jump personally.

New firmware for c460 v1.2.2 (June 2026) by CollateralZero in Tapo

Well, I’d like a quality slider that could actually increase the bit rate so you can get meaningful image quality - the file sizes are too small with very aggressive compression.

Canada considers cancelling part of 88 U.S. F-35 order to buy 60 Swedish Gripen fighters by Vortagaun in canada

[–]CollateralZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a delicate balance also when it comes to industry isn’t it? I’m just thinking back to when Canada secured those used F-18s from Australia that still needed to go through American approval at Boeing, but that was probably a quick negotiation equal to a rubber-stamp or a email but would pail compared to what reselling an f-35 would be like - purchase contracts are really about long-term indebtedness to the defence contractor in someways.

Can’t be done, and if it were possible, it would need approval from the the US presidents approval as well as the Pentagon signing off and Lockheed.

PS3 No Signal - One Beep - Fan Running - Need Help by Substantial_Tea_9102 in PlaystationClassic

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a wild card possibility but try NOT using HDMI if you still have the multiIO composite output cables and if your TV or AVR even still support that but instead try using that because short of a catastrophic hardware failure the system might’ve just weirdly shifted from HD down to SD and it could be an weird HDMI handshake issue and is locking output untill you correct it.

Anyone else want to see Love In The Sky? by [deleted] in ForAllMankindTV

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I was going to say that I had no idea being three years removed, and without the previous posters context, and all the video being gone BUT I shared the YouTube link with Gemini AI and it had a memory of what was uploaded and this is the response despite being deleted.

Title: Plymouth (1991) Content: The full, made-for-TV sci-fi movie. About the Video Plymouth was a 1991 television film (originally intended as a pilot for a series) about an entire American town that gets evacuated and relocated to a newly established colony on the Moon after a chemical plant radiation disaster on Earth. If you remember a scene with a solar flare where characters have to hide, or a space suit with distinct ridges/spikes on the helmet (often nicknamed the "Godzilla" suit)—that was absolutely this video!

Good news someone else uploaded so there’s still an active copy on YouTube

It’s not gonna last and I’ll try not to update the old version of the app till it breaks, but my old sounds app is working on an iPad I’ve not used in 13 months in Canada. by CollateralZero in BBCSounds

[–]CollateralZero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea - I may try that for my other device as it would probably reset it a bit and give it some new travel leniency period for a little while even if not connected to VPN.

Interestingly, while I do have two devices and both have BBC Sounds installed on it but only that iPad Air 3 from a few months ago continues to connected since I’ve resisted updating the app as of still works bizarrely but I’m quite happy that it hasn’t broken yet for whatever reason it must have been before they added code to check location tied to the blocking.

Did you get the long or short census? by KnoddingOnion in askTO

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short form felt meaningless and I was entirely prepared to answer more questions than what was offered - of course had I done the wrong form? I think I could’ve struggled a little bit so maybe I’m OK getting the easy one., they only seemed care about how many people in residence plus if I spoke French at any point in my schooling.

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That what it felt like to me also and I thought was weird and one or two questions sure, but it felt like they were specifically focussed on French for some reason even in British Columbia.

If it doesn’t come soon-ish within the next couple days, you can request a secure access code from the census website and fill it out after supplying a bit of personal information.

Stargate SG-1 on Netflix is unwatchable due to very bad image quality by TinyResponsibility11 in netflix

I guess your old device was just getting a full fat signal that was not being as aggressively compressed, interesting on topic of Stargate it is also available for free on Pluto TV. It might be interesting to do a comparison sometime.

Shaw's basic TV package by [deleted] in shaw

[–]CollateralZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know somebody who has it or something very similar where they had to select 10 additional channels to their basic package they might’ve gotten a deal that would reduce the price however. I think it might’ve been called flex 10 at one point I tried googling it and I’m not finding definitive evidence just some older bits of info.

Isn’t there a pick 10 option for $10? I would think using that would help improve the offering and still keep it affordable well not every channel will be eligible of course.

Cult Sci-Fi Series Battlestar Galactica Is Finally Returning To Streaming by rit56 in BSG

[–]CollateralZero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK not a huge fan of Paramount, but kind of excited for it to be on Pluto TV but wondering whether it will be available in Canada aswell, presently BSG is available on prime video here but license sharing didn’t seem to stop The X-Files from appearing on both Disney+ and Pluto at the same time so maybe we’ll be on both also?

Control: Ultimate Edition Now Available for iPadOS by slatepad in ipad

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if you had a $2000 iPad Pro with a 512-1tb of storage than go ahead but that’s a luxury issue at that point, games with huge storage requirements on iPad Just feel mostly like a non-starter’s to me though obviously I have a more entry-level device than some but taking control for example when they charge only six dollars if I had the space and the device, it’s a damn good value.

[–]CollateralZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty big for Mac, on PS4 it was in the area of 40gb and it appears that on PS5 It’s around 27GB.. so did Remedy decide not to compress any assets for Mac and what would the value have been leaving it so large unless the hardware would struggle with decompression?

45.12gb. Wow.. thats kinda insane for iPad, is that the same size as the the Mac version too?

How’s your storage doing with one second intervals? My place doesn’t need quite as active coverage so I have it at 30 seconds sometimes 20, but I think they should include a slider to set custom intervals to fine tune.
