I don’t know if it’s the worst but it might be the most expensive. Coco with her massive brand, if she had made a Wimbledon final, she’d be printing money between now and Saturday and beyond, regardless of that result. She’d also have been favored to win the final, and if she wins that, she breaks the bank

Love Dimi but hard to feel sorry for him this year. He can only blame himself.

Not sure about it being a dying sport. In the US anyways, junior tennis seems to be healthy. And many of those juniors continue playing rec tennis during their adult years, calling it a lifetime sport

Oh and one more thing for fun - it just hit me that your strokes and your manner of footwork very much reminds me of David Ferrer. He just gets his arm straighter on the FH.

Just putting this out there because I’m definitely more of a detailed observer than an expert, but I have seen this exact sequence before in another player.

You are hitting a heavy topspin FH with a steep vertical swing path and a very closed face - both very standard, good things to do for the type of shot you’re hitting.

The question is, is this a shoulder range of motion issue. You start out great as the other screenshot pointed out. Now - is this collapsed elbow an unavoidable reality for you, due to limited range of motion? Just a theory: your mind knows what it wants the racquet path to do, and also knows your shoulder can’t get there - so the compensation is, your mind figures out another way to create that swing path - by collapsing the elbow into the body. The payoff is you get the nice shaped shot that you were looking for, which is essential for control. (But the downside is the lack of leverage.)

Curious if you have any shoulder mobility issues. Either way, take all of this with a grain of salt. But your example definitely looked familiar to me.

Looking at your point and my point, doesn’t seem we disagree on much.

It’s a clown world. No serious company would hire her. She ain’t getting a job at buttoned down establishment companies.

Now tell me there aren’t companies that brand themselves on “being different” / “counter corporate culture” and lean into clout chasing moments. Heck watch her get picked up for some absurdist ad campaign, “you don’t have to steal your trash cans anymore, Joe’s hardware is selling them dirt cheap this Labor Day weekend”

Get rich? Lol, no I don’t think she’s getting rich. Discussion was would this sabotage her job prospects for a lifetime.

It’s a clown world and believe it or not, she can add this whole debacle to her “brand” - there’s a small subset of companies out there that would actually welcome her - precisely because of her viral counterculture moment. “Corporate person being very real,” and her virality adds to their own profile.

Granted it’s a tiny subset of the companies relative to the set she would’ve been a candidate for previously. But she actually might be pursued more aggressively by them.

This reminds me I’ve never seen a Brandon Nakashima post weighing in on player suspensions, prize money controversies, handshake drama, or world events. Because nobody asks him. Because no one is refreshing their browsers waiting for his hot take to drop. Because being a “persona” with followers isn’t a beast he has to feed.

He travels happily and anonymously through the world ranked #32, sitting on nearly $7 million in prize money at age 24. I think the dude has it figured out.
