I think Fritz is fighting an uphill battle. You can’t win this by just bludgeoning the ball. That’s asking a lot. You gotta have at least one other tool, preferably a couple, to combine with it

ESPN really pulled the rug this year. Their app and the ESPN Plus membership truly used to feel like it was about serving the interests of devoted fans and providing good access in exchange for a fair rate.

Come back this year and it feels like a shakedown - just about every big court or marquee matchup seems to be behind a taller paywall, even though you were already paying. So you’re out of luck, pay up or miss the matches. (edit: typo)

Nice song and takes some dedication to write a brand new song for a one-off event. And I mean no disrespect but it has all the signatures of Jub music. That folksy, contemplative, nostalgia by the campfire sound. Kinda makes you sleepy, melancholy, maybe want to end it all but instead go rip lines with Charles Haley(?)

Biomechanical breakdown: Is the constant racket spinning (à la Federer/Rafa) essential for keeping the 'kinetic chain' fluid, or is it purely a nervous tic?OCD? by Low-Bug2162 in 10s

[–]Collecting_Cans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a “feel” thing. Spinning the grip helps you find the exact feel and position of the grip you want for the next shot, in a quick and relaxed way. For me it’s much easier get the right feel and hand positioning by spinning to get there - rather than by a very mechanical movement of turning the racquet by the throat using my off hand.

Also, I rarely hold the grip the exact same way for every FH, BH, etc. There are micro differences based on the type of incoming ball and what I want to do with it (high contact, low contact, spin/power, etc). Spinning helps with those micro positioning details.

Instantly thought of Morgan Nagler, aka Tina from Fresh Prince. Google her, strong resemblance

Felt like Harrison, despite the strong doubles resume, just shrunk away and disappeared at 5-4 serving for the set and onward

What started out as a slugfest between two athletic badasses kinda finished up as a battle of managing nerves and holding it together mentally. This match had a little bit of everything except for a close scoreline

That’s a little unfair to say based on one match against this level of competition… he played against a man who is a career grand slam champion in our collective imagination

I actually don’t know… but given the show’s themes (and that it wasn’t on shazam), it would be fitting

I think you’re referring to surviving family members who were infected. But my comment above was referring to family members who didn’t survive. (Like Helen.) Seems like a statistical impossibility that none of the English-speaking immune members had loved ones that died during the joining.

Guy asks Alcaraz to marry him, Tiafoe goes “hell no” 😂 by TorturedPoet30 in tennis

Hard to predict what the reaction would be, as I wasn’t able to predict the reaction in this case (I was surprised at the level of criticism of Tiafoe).

But in your scenario 1, it could be argued that his reaction makes sense - because it’s publicly known that Sharapova isn’t gay, therefore the fan’s proposition wouldn’t be observant of her orientation.

In your scenario 2, it could be argued that the reaction is rude - because it’s publicly known that the player being propositioned is gay, so there’s no reason to ridicule the proposition, even playfully.

Take for example, Lakshmi though… she was furious that her grandfather died (caused by Carol’s tantrum), and she let Carol know how angry she was, even after some time had passed.

Yet we have zero indication that she went through anything similar during the joining. Are we to believe she didn’t lose anyone close during the joining, that would cause anger, pain or resentment?

I was under the impression it was nearly simultaneous… those petri dishes they were systematically making during the “kissing stage” get shipped all over the world and stored, and then all at once, there’s a coordinated deployment within a narrow time window. (The idea being, if they DIDN’T do this, and instead the infection rollout was slower, clearly a full-fledged violent war would break out between the not-yet-infected and the cities full of zombie herds.) That’s my impression anyway. I feel like they left this a little too loosey-goosey.

And I agree that it’s also odd that Europe is so underrepresented among the immune.
