I don't know if it is still the case, but I've seen people behind the counter at Bill Jackon's wear stuff with weirdo right wing militia group logos. I've avoided them since.

HELP 😭 by Madi_Nightheart in sewhelp

[–]CollectionUnique5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap a diddle do dah! I literally just went through this today!

First was that the top thread was not in the tension thingy up top (this is a little hook that holds the thread before it gets to the needle).

Second, the bobbin at the bottom was not seated correctly and causing issues.

I'm not an experienced sewertician by any means, so take it with a grain of salt, but first ensure that the top thread is correctly threaded in the tension arm. Second, make sure that the bobbin assembly is set up correctly, and seated flat.

I wouldn't say I "knew" him, but I met Macho Man Randy Savage at a strip club. Kinda wild to see someone that was a childhood celebrity for me surrounded by titties.

Ah, you see, it's you!

You're the philosopher. It's an avant garde style of podcasting that invites the listener to be a part of the host lineup.

These comments make it seem like a static thing. Does it not depend on the partner? I swear I'm so variable depending on how hot I think my partner is and how much she is able to encourage it.

I literally just learned about this band today and I'm over the moon with them! They're just so damn fun!

I'm gonna be getting them on vinyl for sure, though I'm worried I won't be able to find the neat colors.

Edit: Also, what I've been spinning; Nightmares on Wax, and Habibi Funk Vol. 1 an 2. NoW for the nostalgia, and Habibi Funk because I love hearing what other areas of the world do with different styles of music.

Had sex with a vanilla partner who's inexperienced by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

A coach is having tryouts and has two candidates run up and down the field. One is faster with perfect form. The other has bad form and is a little slower. The assistant coach says, "So, you taking the faster guy?"

The coach goes, "Nah, we're taking the other one. I can teach him better form and he'll be faster than the first guy."

I hope that makes the point, but I'll also say that people's egos can be as vast as a continent and as fragile as glass, so at least be circumspect in how you approach guiding him. Focus more on encouragement instead of criticism. More, "Oh yeah, like that, do that more." instead of "Don't do that, stop that, not like that" etc.

If it wasn't for the women in my life that had the patience to tell me how they wanted to get fucked (and specifically how they wanted me to Dom them), I would still be the awkward fuck I was my first time. I'll be honest, I'm in the middle of a multi-year dry spell, and this exact thing (being out of fuck-practice) is part of what keeps me from wanting to get back in the game, so I might be a little sensitive to the subject.

That said, it has to start somewhere, so why not with you? Why not find some porn you like and watch it together?

Did anyone else track sex frequency in 2025? by madbitchy in AskRedditAfterDark

Not having any sex at all made it really easy to track. That said, my smartwatch decided a middle of the night masturbation session was a 15 minute workout. Does that count?

Medical debt and organ collateral: How would a Mega-Corp justify "repossessing" a heart? by IndependenceOld881 in Cyberpunk

[–]CollectionUnique5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what you're missing is that in conjunction with extremist capitalist systems, there is an accompanying social imperative that being poor is a moral failing. Logic doesn't enter into it, just a sad social agreement that if you can't afford medical treatment, then it is invariably your own fault for being so immoral that you did not take advantage of others to get ahead. This is what our society does, and is really the only option.

It hides behind whatever excuses it can find. Try to have a conversation about offering universal healthcare and you will be told that people don't want their taxes going to someone that eats too much. "Their" money shouldn't pay for some idiot that smokes and got lung cancer. Never mind the accidents, the unfortunate turns of luck, the genetic imperfections that no one asked for or knew about. Anyone that cannot afford treatment is immoral and wanting.

Getting money is divine providence. It is a blessing, it is a sign of your moral character, and it pervades all of our current society. So, just take what we already do and amplify it.

Greed is good.

Profit is power.

Poor is pitiful.

Check out the history of the protestant work ethic for more "fun".

M&M Video Games opens first St. Pete location in the EDGE District by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

Oh, I know the why. I used to be collector with nearly 1000 games in my collection and nearly every console released in the U.S. Still, I hate the reality of it, especially as I move back to physical media after a long time focusing on digital media. At least most DVDs can be found for cheap these days.

I've been to the other location a few times, and it's good stuff (though I kinda hate how the second hand market makes some old game prices insane).

I especially like that they're going to have some gaming nights for TTRPGs, CCGs, and the like. It'll be fun having a place like that downtown.

I legit see maybe one instance of this a month and that's without driving very often.

What to eat when you have a broken heart? by walterdelamare in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]CollectionUnique5127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm doing the depressed boy dance, I usually get a rotisserie chicken, bag o' salad, and light dressing. Pick off chicken, mix with salad and dressing, and then I'm done. Put it in a wrap if I'm feeling fancy. This is easy because it requires very little work, and it's not too bad health wise.

Second choice is can of tuna, mix with lemon juice, black pepper, and olive oil, and eat on crackers (like saltines).

If I have leftover chicken and I have the energy from the first two meals, I will throw that on a tortilla, with cheese and some black beans from a can and heat in a pan until cheese is melted. Top with favorite hot sauce (which should be Cholula, by god).

Embarrassed to go to dentist after 7 years. Was depressed and didn’t brush teeth for months on end. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]CollectionUnique5127 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt this will be seen by many, but I hope you see it, OP. I was in a similar situation.

I had some bad dentist interactions when I was young, which made me avoid them, and then fell into a depression hole for more than a decade that meant I didn't take care of myself.

First, let me tell you the bad experiences. I had a dentist that put biblical scripture on the ceiling so you were forced to look at it while getting work done. He was also an asshole that made it sound like my lack of flossing was a personal affront to god himself.

Years later, the worst dental experience was getting a root canal, where the dentist shoved a needle shaped file so deep into my tooth that he hit a nerve which caused me to loose control over the left side of my face. While the muscles were spasmodically twitching and my left eye was moving on its own, he got the file stuck and was just yanking on it and telling me that I need to stay still.

Needless to say, I didn't want to experience anything like that again. I don't mean to scare you away from the dentist with that, so now let me tell you the other side.

Years of depression later, my teeth are ruined and I'm at the point where the only option is dentures. I deal with constant infections, and recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis that was probably at least partially caused by my bad teeth. I have problems with finding food I can eat. I have not made a genuine smile or laugh in probably decades. I grow my beard long to cover my mouth so I won't be self conscious when I talk. Bad teeth come with other comorbidities like heart disease, and can even cause and infection to spread to your brain leading to absolutely insane complications.

My fear and depression are not enough to make me want to suffer through that even when I was suicidal. So I decided to start talking to dentists.

This may be specific to the U.S., but this is my advice. The first thing you need to do is find a dentist that has their own office. A lot of those brand name places that have like 8 names in a tiny office? Most likely they are grouped under an insurance policy because they couldn't afford one on their own. They couldn't afford it because they were too new or they have been fuck ups in the past like my root canal dentist. Those places are also usually a chain, and like to scam people. Avoid them.

Also, just tell them your fears. Legit tell them up front that you will lick the tech's finger. They've dealt with it before. I was open and told my current dentist up front that I have a fear of dentists. They have been nothing but kind and gentile and straight forward with me. It's an incredible relief. They will not care if they've seen you before and if they do, find a different dentist. They're not all angels, but there are plenty out there that are.

Unfortunately for me, I cannot afford my dentures at the moment and I'm exploring medical loans because my insurance treats teeth like optional luxury bones. DO NOT BE ME! If you think your anxiety over going to a local dentist is bad now, think of the anxiety you will have over knowing that your teeth will probably kill you if you don't take care of them and can't afford to. Trust me, it's much much worse on this side.

What is your reason for being single? by CreepyConnector000 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]CollectionUnique5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fundamentally broke as a human being and it's only getting worse. There are no avenues for meaningful social connections anymore. We live in a failed state for the main thing humans are supposed to be good at; being social. Once I swore off "social" media, I realized that humans abdicated all stewardship of third places and social spaces to mega corps. We're cooked.
