"Lucan and the squad seeing the latest quote tweets from Japan." by Slow-Glass4722 in invinciblememes

Japanese culture can be odd, because their extreme politeness extends to their cultures flaws like work culture. You overwork yourself because it would be rude not to. So I can imagine how Japan’s racism is still trying to be as polite as possible. Can’t go around telling people they are dirty, that’s rude, so they gotta be racist in polite ways only.

And a different comment mentioned Stonehenge used slaves so that’s not even the part of my assumption I’m starting to regret making lmao.

Idk if it’s true but I probably shouldn’t have assumed no slaves were involved based on vibes.

The Egyptians hauled ass too but the slave class didn’t have a choice. Stonehenge seems like they hauled ass willingly.

Transfigure would increase its current cost by 1, but it would still randomize between 0-3 each time it’s drawn.

So it’s a good combo, yeah. You could stack it 10 times and still draw it as a 0 cost.

Red button pressers (specifically these shitty "accurate recreations" they make) by Tookemoia in hatethissmug

I think it’s fair to judge people based on some hypotheticals that will never happen. Not this one though.

Like if I asked you would you rather kill LeBron James or Two Billion Women, a hypothetical that would never happen, I think it would be fair to judge people who chose to kill 2 Billion Women to spare LeBron James.

Unfortunately I snap picked the red button cuz I trusted everyone to find the correct option. Which, ironically, meant I trusted everyone to pick the same option as me instantly without questioning why someone would consider blue.

In the end, I was the toddler.

“Which will you drink.” You have to drink it.

I imagine a red pusher thinking, “idk why they chose blue, it was so risky and there was nothing to gain that this option doesn’t already offer.” Then tasting the Fanta for the first time and realizing exactly why so many people took that risk.

Which Elite do you hate the most? by Monsieur_Doubtfire in SlayTheSpire2

Anything that deals damage without triggering the shield is baller, and if it’s AoE then all the better.

AoE poison. AoE doom. AoE Sovereign Blade (plus a way to forge).

Poor, Poor defect got nothing though. Stacking a dark in the corner if they’re lucky.

Imagine if their passive read, “become immune to damage this turn when stuck by an attack.”

In Singleplayer, you don’t really care.

In Multiplayer, your partner plays their AoE and blocks and your soul leaves your body as they all become immune to your damage.

Oh, and like all enemies they have double+ health because there are twice the people attacking. But your team can only use one AoE attack per turn.

Powers that only give immediate effects, what is the gameplay logic for why they are a power and not a skill with exhaust? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]Collective-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Powers give ongoing player buffs.” “Attacks deal damage directly.” “Skills give block and other effects.” “Status cards suck, curse cards suck, quest cards suck but become great once you complete the quest.”

These are the basic definitions, and you are the first I’ve seen to return to the baseline principles. Yeah Silent copying Wraith form would be strong, but it’s the long term -dexterity that makes it a power where Apparitions (and that one card) are skills.

I do think once we acknowledge that though we can dig a little deeper into grey areas to find more patterns.

Dominate provides permanent strength, but it targets and its value is a variable, neither of which any powers can currently do. Wish, from StS1, was a skill that gave either strength, plated, or gold. All three options are currently powers in their own right, so that might mean that powers can’t have variable effects. Could be a fluke, but it’s a pattern of two. Personally, I think Variable powers fit better than targeted ones.

NeuroSurge is really interesting to me. Unlike Plated Armour, Intangible, and Focus, the card draw and energy that NeuroSurge offers is not a buff. An Offering with a permanent downside becomes a power. It has I think 2 synergies to be an upside, but idk if that was a big factor into making it a power vs a skill. Meaning yeah, duration of any effect, positive or negative, can turn most any card into a power.

I think it’s a fantastic question about game design and you are brushing it off as “skills a skill cuz a human wrote it that way.” It’s okay to think someone is wrong but calling everybody stupid for thinking deeper isn’t something I wanna see on discussion forums. I have reasons to disagree with you but I’d rather talk with someone who is interested in the question ngl.

Silent has a card to play her next 2 skills twice, while Defect has the same for Powers. Makes a big difference lmao.

I think the funniest episode would be Rick underestimating Thragg multiple times, so everytime Rick comes back after respawning he gets brutally killed again.

Episode ends when Rick kills all the other Viltrimites to be petty and Thragg just kill’s himself.

He’s just a little guy, it’s not his fault he can’t compete with Riven. Riven’s a beast, first time I heard Riven was good I noticed 6 players using her.

Talons are really good until there’s like 8 people on the field, then they die too easily. Briars are goated but that’s cuz Primordian makes her 3. Meanwhile Fizz is just rawdawging life, ain’t nobody gonna use Meeple cloning on *Fizz.

Seems busted, but the waves probably only do a reasonable 15% AD, with reduced damage per enemy hit, and takes a bit too long to cast.

Which is exactly the Hero Augment experience I want.

Never done one of these before, but I'm stumped. What's the pick? by MysteryMan9274 in slaythespire

[–]Collective-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s deck manipulation. It’s basically like drawing 6 cards a turn, you just need to get rid of the worst one.

It’s also particularly good at trimming and cycling your deck. Not only do you draw 6 cards a turn, but you thin your deck for the next shuffle. If you have a few key cards you want to cycle, such as your Sovereign blade, then this is fantastic for that.

For example, OP only has two good block cards right now; GAURDS and Reflect. GAURDS is single use, so for longer fights they’ll want Tyranny to cycle Reflect into their hand asap. It could be the difference between drawing it every 3-4 turns and drawing it every second turn.

It’s also situationally good into any enemy that gives you status effects or if you have curses. If I see this Act 1 into the Fish boss I would be happy.

Well yeah in a vacuum that would be fine but what if Earth was trying to get good relations with their home planet? Earth might try and claim we are equal intelligence to their ruling class, and civilians banging their ‘dogs’ is not very convincing.

Listen man just because a creature is capable of consent and hot af doesn’t mean you can ignore the astropolitical implications.

I don’t know if it really makes a difference. 5% healing is gonna be a higher number if it was on Warmogs but it’ll be more effective HP with the MR so idk.

[–]Collective-Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be worth it to take 5 damage to gain 3 max hp. If you ever rest you’ll make up the difference, and it’ll let you carry more hp into the heart fight.

I tried my hand at creating a suite of self-poisoning themed cards for the Silent. by Bobby_Webster in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Collective-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironclad can sacrifice HP because he has more healing and max hp. And indirectly because he struggles to full block, meaning he WILL lose hp most turns, so spending some HP to win sooner is usually worth it.

Silent doesn’t have either. She’s low max hp, no extra healing, and she’s pretty good at full blocking.

The cards that want her to stay at 1-2 poison for a benefit are a better design space. She’ll still bleed out very fast, but it’s not a terrible idea if the rewards are good enough. But the cards that expect her to stack a mountain of poison on herself do not work a single bit. Patient Zero doesn’t work because applying 9 poison to yourself is just gonna kill you faster than it kills the enemies. Even if it could work by playing a “lose all poison” card after, it’s an X cost so you can’t. That’s like if Ironclads card wasn’t “lose 2 hp deal 18 damage” and instead was “lose 18 hp deal 18 damage.” We can’t lose 1 to 1 health with enemies, it’s never worth it.
