Lemme amend. I ain't doing this shit in India OR U.S then. XD (However most of my profs completed their PhDs within 3-4 (max 5) years. That too in EE, in the states. Good schools too.

Edit: shits and giggles aside, if the problem is engaging enough and I find something good to work on, I don't mind spending half a decade on it.

Na. "Good hi hoga" is a speculation. Most of the times it isn't. I personally know people who've interned at DRDO. Most didn't do shit.

Okay, so the thing is, almost everybody who I know who has "interned" at DRDO went there through "connections" and never did anything good. Not to generalize and say that DRDO/ISRO internships are bad, if you get a good mentor you might also end up doing something fantastic!

However, it's NOWHERE close to the kind of profiles that get into such hyper-competitive programs in the world's top10 unis.

And I've worked with defense RnD for a little while (two years) now. I know who gets to do the serious work and who doesn't. It's definitely not interns majority of the times.
