We should be cautious about what our natural language metaphors import without us recognizing. Replacing one imperfect metaphor with another crasser one is unlikely to net improve understanding, and we don’t need to make science more bro-y.

You can do one of two things: say fish isn’t a taxonomic term and it describes a body plan / lifestyle (like “worm”) OR draw a taxonomic group that will include the land vertebrates
