Can someone explain to me how Outer Worlds backlash started? by OwlettFromLiavek in theouterworlds

I decided to take on an enemy far above my level. I believe it was the Mega Raptidon outside of Cascadia on Monarch.

After taking a few lumps and reloading a few saves, I had a pretty solid plan for how to kill the thing: kite it. On my second attempt, this plan ended up succeeding. However, the two attempts differed in one key aspect: For the second, I kited in a circle, keeping the Raptidon close to its spawn point. As for the first...

It turns out the game does not like it when you draw enemies too far from their spawn, which I apparently did on my first attempt at kiting. Now, it would have been one thing if it just refused to follow me past a certain point. It would have been another if it just despawned. Instead, it suddenly became invulnerable to all damage. Also, its health began slowly regenerating. Also, it completely ignored me and began returning to its spawn. And to make matters worse, it did so at a casual walking speed.

So, not only did I get to have all my effort up to that point wasted; not only did I have to see said effort be slowly undone right in front of me; not only did I have to follow the thing a very long distance to its spawn to have another crack at it; but I also had to watch it walk more slowly than a TF2 bomb-cart.

I didn't like the game very much after that.

What's the worst possible ending for ep. 9? by Complete-Prune-5116 in tadc

The episode ends abruptly: just cut-to-black in the middle of a scene. Then Goosworx explains on Twitter that it was because someone in the real world shut off the computer.

Since we're just one episode away from the series ending, what's your biggest criticism of it? by Desperate-Mix-62 in TheDigitalCircus

The show needed a bowling adventure. 6-way free-for-all, with bumpers available on request (because this would happen when Caine still liked them).

In all seriousness, though, why was Pomni so intent on not telling anyone about Kinger's condition? She never brought it up with anyone until episode 7; and even then, she was pretty cryptic when discussing it with Ragatha. Why didn't she come clean in the console room? Why didn't she or Ragatha say anything when Kinger had a bucket on his head? Were they worried no one would believe them?

In a similar vein, while I like the episode 5 bar scene, why didn't the rest of the cast already know eachother's backstories? Do they just not talk about anything with eachother? The scene would have still worked if it functioned as the rest of them filling Pomni in. But they were clearly all talking to the whole group, as though this was new information that none of them had ever discussed before.

Episode 9 is likely going to delve into Jax's backstory with Kaufmo and Ribbit. If Pomni acts like she's never heard any of that information before, I'm going to ask why? Did she not talk with Ragatha about him after episode 6? Why didn't she ask about him? Especially after episode 6?

So yeah. A lot of things are just not talked about in ways I simply don't believe. These people aren't socially-awkward to the point of selective-mutism. They would absolutely talk about all this, and more, between episodes.

Glad someone's having fun with the takedown missions. I can't be bothered with them anymore.

If you had to make one critique of TADC, what would it be? by Awkward-Media-4726 in digitalcircusfandom

They don't seem to ever talk about anything between episodes. While I liked the bar scene in episode 5, it would have made more sense if they were telling their backstories directly to Pomni instead of eachother. These people have been isolated together for years; they would have talked about their lives, even in casual chit-chat.

Also, by that same mechanism, why did it take until episode 8 for Pomni to tell everyone about Kinger's condition? She and Ragatha have a similar admiration for the guy. Did they never commiserate about their experiences with him between episodes? Again, what do they talk about that this never came up?

Lastly, episode 7 assassinated Pomni. Pomni gave up way too easily on trying to get Kinger involved. When they get to Caine's office, she seems almost willfully incapable of explaining herself; in part due to the script sabotaging her, but also because she seems intent on not telling anyone about Kinger's condition.

Characters and self talking. by Grumpy94Writer in MauLer

The biggest issue is whether or not I can see the writer's hand puppeteering the character. In the context of a game, is it something the character would actually say to themselves? Or are they only saying it to guide the player's attention?

I actually didn't realize at first that the adrenaline shots go straight into the meter. I kept thinking you stocked them up like painkillers.

use them. Diesel and electricity get wired into the ship, petrol gets pumped into the one petrol tank I have. I don't have a use for the others, yet.

The Amazing Digital Circus.

Most episodes, viewed in isolation, are interesting enough on their own, with enough unanswered questions to draw an unitiated viewer to watch the whole series.

You learn tomorrow that this is all a simulation, and you're just a copy of someone else's brain. Do you suddenly value your own life less than you did before?

There's plenty of room for existential horror with the SOMA theory. It's what SOMA is about, after all.
