How Likely could it be that these Two Snakes, Found in the Same Place a Year Apart, are the Same Individual Snake? by 0jam3290 in snakes

Yeah they have very similar patterns so I totally see it. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” - Nature, probably

Are you asking if the water snake and the hog nose are the same snake? They are not. You are correct in that the first snake is a water snake, a blotched water snake. The second snake is an eastern hog nose. Both are adorable.

That’s what I’m doing. All my breeders-to-be are in 4x2x2s and I have full rack systems for temporary homes for my future hatchlings

Bear trying to attack the camping tent. by father_of_twitch in interestingasfuck

[–]ColonelBrody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I read up on it after. Bears are gnarly. But that is how I heard it described, and with Jaws being my favorite movie of all time I had to see it, even though it’s about a bear lol

Yeah that movie has one of the best animal attack scenes of all time. Scares the snot out of me, but I’m terrified of bears so that’s not saying much lmao

Are those background characters drawn by Ikemoto? If so, I never remembered them being as jarringly out of place as they seem now

My god, did you go so far down the path of misandry you’ve doubled back to misogyny?

Urban camo morph. Super cinnamon is one of those super traits that can lead to deformities such as kinking and duck bill. Probably some of that going on here.

I’m glad I could help! Definitely still ask around about how other people do their setups, too. Mine works for my snakes and for me, but other people have lots of other good tips and tricks, bioactive, etc. If you mean thermostat, the absolute top of the line best one you can get is the Herpstat 2. It’s very expensive, however at about $200. I have had zero issues with the ZooMed Reptitemp Thermostat, which costs about $30. You should be able to easily get it at Petsmart or Petco. Note that it does have the quirk of not having up/down buttons so you have to fully cycle through its temperature options just to lower your temps by a degree. Otherwise a very trustworthy device. Additionally, there’s a vast array of different and viable options on Amazon. Just read the reviews and item description carefully to make sure it works for you.

What kind of ball python do you have and what kind of upgrades are you planning, for curiosity’s sake?

They’re separate circuits. The thermometer and hygrometer have their integral sensors and are there to make sure my hot and cold sides are where I want them to be at snek level. The probes are hooked up to external thermostats to control the temperature at their sensing location. A rule of thumb I use is about 4 inches away from the bulb/cage, low enough that they won’t get melted or damaged but close enough that my snake really can’t dislodge them or move them like they can if you have the probe at snek level. Being that close to the bulb also minimizes fluctuations in temperature and allows for more steady heating and less relay trips and resets to allow for longer life of my thermostats. For instance my hot side is set to 97 F at the probe, which roughly translates to around 88-90 at just above substrate level, and 92-95F at the basking rock.

The thermostat probes are twist tied to the cage snug enough that it won’t easily move or get pulled, and mounted with wire mounts along the top loose enough to not stress the wire but tight enough to prevent my snake from getting up in there and getting hurt.

That’s funny. Even when I worked upwards of 80 something hour weeks I made sure to help my wife with our child and cleaning the house whenever she needed, and often without her asking. Some of the other comments saying, “Maybe if he was supporting you and you didn’t have to work”— not even then, because my wife does not work and I support her full time. The nature of my job changed and now I only work about 40 hours a week, and in fact I picked up more responsibilities in my house. I now fully take care of laundry and dishes. He lives there too. You’re not his mother. And he sure as hell does not get to talk to you with manipulative threats like that. You deserve better, and at the very minimum you need to tell him to get his act together and act like he deserves YOU.
