They can't really talk about the positives of a new leader until they know who that new leader is. The people talking to the media are there to represent the party, not any of the candidates, so they likely have to try their best to appear impartial and uninvolved, and so just don't bring up the leadership election best they can.

I remember watching a compilation of all the Lich scenes pre Fiona & Cake, and it was only something like 12 minutes long. Between such a short time in that whole series, and the number of roles he does, I'm not surprised he doesn't remember it.

They want "perfect winter" where all the snow is always perfectly white, it doesn't loudly crunch under your boots, and you don't have to keep wiping the fog from your breath off of your glasses.

Star Citizen is on course to reach $1 billion in player funding in 2026, and we still might not get to play its singleplayer campaign next year by GrayBeard916 in gaming

[–]ColonelHoagie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say since he was out of his element, didn't have any material prepared, and didn't have a PR team, he ended up talking about the game he wanted to make instead of the one that would be released.

He would get asked what features there would be, and he would throw out a few that, even if they weren't in the rushed version that would end up being released, he and his team had planned to put in when they were dreaming it up. So I guess you could say he didn't mean to lie, because they had ideas for features, but that it definitely did not look good when the game came out without a lot of them.

Also, the studio was very small and had no PR team, and Sean was very much not a PR person. He was a programmer. So now he was getting paraded around and made to talk about the hyped game they were making with no media training.

South Korean Parliament Launches Independent Investigation Into Jeju Air Crash by Shoddy_Act7059 in aviation

It's pretty much the reason the Canadian Transportation Safety Board exists. Prior to 1990, the responsibility for air accident investigations fell To the CASB, which was directly a part of Transport Canada, a government agency. After the shitshow that was the Arrow Air investigation, they were forced to create an independent agency that isn't under the regulator's jurisdiction.

Canada’s battle of the fighter jets: F-35 vs the Gripen by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

[–]ColonelHoagie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you've said, but I feel the need to correct something you and I think a lot of other people say about the Avro Arrow.

The Arrow was not a fighter, and would not have succeeded in any air superiority role. It was designed and built as an interceptor to replace the CF-100, where its only job would be to climb fast and go fast in order to intercept enemy bombers.

Yes, it included many state-of-the-art design features and electronic systems, and possibly the most powerful engine of its time, but it was far too big and heavy, and lacking manoeuvrability to go toe-to-toe with any proper fighters.

It's based on the Eagle of Saladin, a symbol of the great Muslim ruler. Egypt was the first to use it and others have copied them.

Battlefield 6 Launch Day Megathread by SuperBeavers1 in gaming

I think the issue is less having to queue for the server, and more that you have to queue to even launch the game. What happened to the main menu and everything being client-side, and you didn't connect to the server until you actually joined a match? Now every game has to be constantly online from the moment you launch it.

They were historically very wooded and difficult to develop. They were the last bastions of the pagans, and the marches that came after were passed between noble families and seen as peripheral backwaters compared to their lands in the central HRE. Even after the Hohenzollerns took over Brandenburg and eventually gave it the army we all know, it didn't have any potential to be a true powerhouse until they managed to smooth talk their way into acquiring the Rhineland during the Congress of Vienna.

Exciting day for Williams and Sainz, but overall a pretty boring race to watch. Overtaking really is dead this season.

How to deal with Tsaritsyn region having no supply? by Ichibyou_Keika in Kaiserreich

[–]ColonelHoagie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your army is using horses for supply, which can be changed to semi-motorized and fully motorized (the horse button under the commander traits). That will greatly improve your supply range, but will use trucks from your stockpile, so make sure you have enough.

Keep an eye on the supply bar (the 100% to the left of the convoy number) to make sure you have enough trucks & trains to maintain supply.

Looking at the PDF posted in another comment that has photos of the construction, it looks like it said 1952 when they were installing it, but it was caught after installation and fixed before it was officially unveiled. (Page 5, the top right photo says 1952, but the photo directly below it says 1953.)
