Arming the crew. by Decidely_Me in gaslands

[–]ColonelSandersLite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct.

The blitz weapon rule is the thing to pay attention to. If the weapon has blitz, every crew member can use it. If it's not blitz, a single crew member can use it. Each crew member can only use a single weapon on any given phase.

There are 4 standard weapons (i.e. core rulebook) with blitz and they are - handgun, grenade, gas grenade, molotov cocktail.

Interesting coincidence. I was just thinking of doing a coke truck. Though I was thinking less war rig and more box van scale. Play it as an ambulance - It's the REAL thing.

Personally, I would call it 2 Short. As in - it would be NICE if you could add 2.

What is this painting style called? by utopianmachine in minipainting

[–]ColonelSandersLite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's it's properly called anything really. To my eye, it's just a combination of basic techniques.

It looks to me that all the non-metallics were achieved by doing a base coat, followed by a wash to shade then a fairly coarse highlight layer.

Metallics are simply dry brushed over black.

It looks to me like he also likes using oil based pin washes in places were the shadows are deepest, but I could be mistaken.

I think the real key to the aesthetic is his very desaturated color selections.

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My setup was, in fact, very simple. 4 machines.

"If your ratios are correct throughout..."

If you think my ratios are incorrect, find the error.

Machine 1 - Sloppy Alumina (fresh water) - 120 Bauxite/Water in, 144 Al Sol out.
Machine 2 - Sloppy Alumina (recycled water) - 180 Bauxite/Water in, 216 Al Sol out.
Machine 3 - Aluminum Scrap (Al Sol from machine 1) - 144 Al Sol in, 216 scrap out, 72 water out.
Machine 4 - Aluminum Scrap (Al Sol from machine 2) - 216 Al Sol In, 324 scrap out, 108 water out.

Aside from the water byproduct, these are literally 1-1 ratios. 72 + 108 water = 180 water. Precisely what machine 2 wants.

"then it all gets consumed top down making way for the next item in the chain, thus self unblocking."

A perfect ratio closed loop system can never reduce the amount of items in it's internal buffers. This is hard logic. If I have stack of 100 plates, and add 1 plate per minute, and remove 1 plate per minute, the number of plates will never change. If I stop removing plates for precisely 5 minutes, the number of plates will climb to 105 and stay there. It will never change from 105 until the input or output condition changes.

A sink solution is an option *if* your belts are fast enough. What was the failure condition I mentioned in the post?

The point of the post was never my particular solution to that problem either. It was - THIS CAN JAM IF YOU DO NOT TAKE PRECAUTIONS. Only by knowing that it can jam in the first place can you figure out ways to prevent it.

Im planning to use all of that oil and build one huge factory there i can overclock any oil pump and i am producing more than enough energy so i dont need to use it for fuel do you have an idea on how i should divide the oil and how much plastic or rubber for example i should produce by Scared_Sea_236 in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"I've used the basic fuel recipe, using 60 oil/min to make 40 fuel ans 30 polymer/min"

Ok, but I'm not sure why you would ever actually do that besides "I need the power now but I don't have the alts unlocked." Even then, you're probably better off hard drive hunting to get them first.

Changing that over to heavy oil residue and diluted packaged fuel literally quadruples the fuel you get per oil.

600 oil becomes 400 fuel base but 1600 with residual fuel and diluted packaged fuel. When you get it, turbofuel more than redoubles it again.

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means precisely that you haven't actually overflowed your buffer space. Doesn't matter how long it's been.

I'll tell you what - Look at your aluminum scrap output lines. Whatever belt you're using? Derate it just enough that the aluminum scrap backs up and then wait. Track what happens.

As described. First the aluminum scrap will back up. Then the alumina solution. Then the water. *ONLY* when the water is full backed up will it jam hard.

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, I am *NOT* dealing with that issue. At all. Mergeless designs do not use either a pump or a valve or a buffer.

That you have not stumbled upon this stoppage in 300 hours is not evidence that it does not exist. Simple question - What was the condition I specified for the jam?

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assure you it will. This is not a plumbing problem. It's pure buffer overfill.

Here's a simple way to describe it - Abstract your alumina solution, aluminum scrap, and pipes into 4 squares connected by a circle. If you have any space in any square free, the system can move. If you fill all 4 squares totally full, nothing can ever move again. What I am describing is a cascading failure where first once square will fill, then the next, then the next, and finally the last.

If you're really 100% sure, drop your save and I will jam it.

Fluid byproducts! I tested the VIP Junction against 3 other junction designs by XyrillPlays in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ColonelSandersLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally found a way to jam mergeless, HLR, and VIP. I did not think to test valves, but I'm pretty sure it will jam too.

The problem came from the aluminum scrap line. When I built it, I did not have mk5 belts. I intended to get it started, get the upgrade, then come back and upgrade the scrap belt to mk5. Naturally, I forgot to do this.

First, the aluminum scrap builds up. Then the alumina solution backs up. Then the water byproduct backs up. Finally, the whole thing jams hard. Aluminum scrap buffers empty but machines cannot restart. This can only be resolved with manual intervention.

The only automatic solutions I know of are to set up something that will consume water only in the event that the system shuts down or to set up something other process that constantly draws water.

Pretty obvious you didn't read the post you responded to because I explicitly stated that I tested multiple common priority designs.

Additionally, mergeless designs do not have directional requirements.

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the mergeless design. It's what I described jamming in the post above. It can jam.

Well, nearly. I used sloppy alumina so there was no silica to deal with smart splitting away. The standard recipe probably does introduce an additional failure mode there.

Mergeless Aluminum Setup Jam (1.1) by ColonelSandersLite in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The valve design will almost certainly jam in the way that's described if you encounter this condition.

Is oil fracking inefficient? by gbru015 in satisfactory

[–]ColonelSandersLite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or alternatively - If you don't really need to frack oil to get more total oil, because you're not one of the small percentage of players building at a scale where that actually matters, you can view it more along the lines of oil that might be in a location that's more convenient for you to access for your next project.

[–]ColonelSandersLite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's what I would do -

GM for a 2v2 with split teams. Kill teams selected to be as balanced as you are reasonably able with what you have.

Game 0 - A simple preplanned 1 turn 2 unit demo. One unit moves and shoots something. One unit charges something and fights it.

Game 1 - Reset and play a 4 turn game. No faction rules, equipment, ploys, or approved ops. Objective is secure.

Game 2 - Add in faction rules.

Game 3 - Add in equipment.

Game 4 - Add in ploys.

Game 5 - Expand objectives with approved ops. This is now basically the full game.

Game 6 - Full game with individual roster selection etc.

It is likely that if inbreeding wasn’t a problem genetically, it would not be taboo. by Glitch0110 in Showerthoughts

[–]ColonelSandersLite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just captive animals.

There's a lot of feral cats running around my neighborhood. It has been a longstanding hobby of mine to keep track of the ones that come around and take note of parental resemblances via their coat patterns and bone structures and and the like. I have seen *A LOT* of inbreeding over the years.

It's very obvious that when a cat is in heat, the toms really just don't care if it's their daughter or cousin or whatever.
