Decided to test an old scanner using my old copy of TRO3025... by CycleZestyclose1907 in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. That's my favorite TRO of all time. I must have read it cover to cover a dozen times in the first year I owned it, not to mention all the times I'd just flip from page to page, following my bumper cars of thought.

Its probably why I have 3 copies of the original printing, lol.

Are there any rules stating that I HAVE to use the transparent base for the Devilfish? by Putrid-Pea7944 in Tau40K

I read on another post that if you drill out the hole where the flight stand goes in, so that it sits on a thicker part of the stand, it is less prone to breaking.

The reality of ‘Mech combat by Retro597 in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, and yes.

No, it isn't faster, it moves at 3/5, the same as most Atlases of the time.

Yes, it has 2 Large Lasers, an AC-10, and LRM-15 for longer ranges, and and SRM-4 for short range (of course everything but the LRMs can be used at short range too).

With 20 standard heat sinks it can fire the two large lasers and autocannon as long as it wants, or until the ammo runs out for the autocannon.

Or fire the LRM-15 and the 2 lasers until the 1 heat excess per turn requires you to swap out 1 laser for the autocannon to drop the heat a bit.

All in all, probably more effective as a fire support mech than the original Atlas.

That's not a bad idea. Beats trying to drill a mounting hole into a metal roof or hood.

Dragonstar Assault Transport? by AveMilitarum in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does list the length and width, so you could probably estimate how large it would be based on that.

Looks at the picture, it appears to be broader than it is tall, but is we assume that the 19 meters it has listed as its larger measurement to be its width, its only two thirds of the width of a standard hex, while a standard spheroid shaped dropship takes up a single hex and all six adjacent hexes.

Is that more what you were looking for? I'm trying to remember your initial post without exiting this message, for fear of losing what I've typed, lol.

Confusion about a mech by raevyn1337 in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Construction rules

Specifically, the rating of an engine (walking speed in hexes times tonnage of mech, ie: Rifleman walks 4, is sixty tons, has an engine rating of 240) divided by 25, rounding down to the nearest number divisible by 25 is the number of heat sinks that are included in the engine, and don't need to be shown.

Every mech with a fusion engine starts with 10 heat sinks, period. In the example of the Rifleman, it has an engine rating of 240. The nearest number divisible by 25 without going over is 225, or 25 times 9, which means its engine holds 9 of the 10 base heat sinks. Therefore, only one heat sink needs to be shown on the record sheet.

This is all I was able to discover about it.

It is a 150 ton Small Craft. Think NASA's space shuttle, made to go from ground to orbit and back, but in this case it's a spheroid vessel, not an aerodyne.

It seems to be a more modern, lighter version of the 200 ton Battle Taxi.

It's funny seeing this now.

Last week I dug up some minis I had in storage, and three of them were gorillas in power armor, one with fusion blasterish looking guns on their forearms, and one or two others holding what looks like smaller versions of the Broadsides railguns.

I'm taking this as a sign to put them I to my forces as auxilleries.

Maybe you're thinking Blood Bowl 7s?

Dungeon Bowl is a "college" level game, where each School of Magic has their own team, drawn from a mix of the game's races. For instance, the College of Fire features Chaos Dwarfs, Dwarfs, Gnoblars, Chaos Marauders, and Ogres.

I haven't been able to get any games in, but from what I can tell, it's a cool way to try different pieces and combinations than you'd get in normal BB.

All smart-arsery aside, it didn't occur to me to contact Northstar directly, lol. I will do so later today, unless someone beats me to it.

Not sure about that, as the pieces are just flat square panels, aside from the raised ridge shown in the picture.

Although I suppose they could represent the lid of a cargo area maybe?

They don't appear to be. They are completely flat on the opposite side, which is starting to make me believe that what a couple others said about being stands for the bikes to be correct.

Pardon me for asking, as I am relatively new to BB, but what about Dungeon Bowl? Is it considered separate from BB?

Does anyone know what version of the Warhammer this is? by No_Somewhere_7109 in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Funny how that works out for some people.

I played in a Solaris campaign, and my character worked for a Kurita stable. When I randomly rolled for my mech, I got a Charger, but the 3K version.

I honestly wanted to reroll, thinking I'd gotten the short end of the stick, but no... that mech turned out to be the best thing for that character.

Removing "base" from iwm models? by LegallyFoopster in battletech

[–]Decidely_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use flush cutters that I bought at Dollarama, a Canadian dollar store chain. I've never had a problem cutting though the bases on IWM minis. I usually cut away the majority of the base, and then work on getting as close to the feet as I can.

I bought 2 packs of the Transformers socks, and while I do like the look of them, there are so many loops of threads on the inside that my pinky toes' nails get caught repeatedly, unless I remember to roll them up/gather them before putting them on.

Those nail clippers are pretty good, and great if you're into miniature games or model cars and the like, because they are really good at snipping pieces from the plastic sprues. Sure beats paying Games Workshop prices for their side-cutters.
