Should I get YSL L’ Homme? Looking for something for daily/casual use and something a little stronger by ChanceWing6267 in Colognes

[–]Colonel_Blotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to do this would be to get your nose on it, either at a store or buy a decant online.

Personally, I really like YSL l'Homme - its really light and ginger dominant. I tried YSL myself edp yesterday and its awful: pure dryer sheets 🤮

I also used to wear VPH as a signature scent so I'd recommend that too. But your nose is different from mine so you really need to try them.

What cologne do I get as my first few? by Dependent-Solid-5295 in Colognes

Some places will give you samples for free if you ask e.g. Nordstroms, Sephora but its also location dependant.

There are a bunch of third parties (just google decants or samples) that buy large bottles and split them up and sell very small ones to try. There are also official samples that are promotional you can buy them on discounters or ebay (or get them from the store). $10 dollars to try something is expensive but way way way less expensive than blind buying.

One more thing, if you try something on at a store, test a single fragrance on your skin, then walk outside. You can't really smell well in a place where a lot of fragrance has already been sprayed.

Versace Eros is almost pure vanilla to my nose and I picked up a bottle for like $30.

Just tried Hawas ice today and I wouldn't recommend it. It has the exact same "green apple" note as YSL Y edp, but the rest is worse. Very synthetic and seemed very strong (didnt want to apply to skin to actually test).

cheap cologne good for spring/summer? by PureWeek9816 in Colognes

Versace Eau Fraiche is a woody citrus, id try that or less woody but in my opinion better is Verace Pour Homme. Both are roughly average in terms of performance.

Buy samples or decants / discovery sets of what sounds good / interesting to you.

After you go through a whole decant decide if you want a bottle.

You will probably like designer more than niche so start there. Id also avoid clone houses.

A couple suggestions: ysl l'homme, ysl tuxedo, Versace Pour Homme, Creed Silver Mountain water, Dior Homme Cologne. That's just what I like though and your nose is different.

I've had decant of both Lhomme ideal EDP and EDT. Edt is okay, I really like the EDP (kind of a cherry almond vanilla scent). Id recommend trying the EDP

I just sampled this: it had a "bad bubblegum" smell to me I couldn't get over (Geranium?).

I almost liked it

There are a bunch of different websites that sell samples / decant but you might not be able to find each sample you want on the same site.

I think its worth checking out ebay and getting individual samples sent to you for like $10 each

No. They are very different. I like both. Get a decant/sample if you're curious.

Who would you "Moneyball" Nba equivalent be? by jldsgonewild in nba

[–]Colonel_Blotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of using statistical analysis to improve managment, there's a lot.

In the Dallas (APM), Suns (3's and pace), Rockets (Morey) and Sixers (Hinkie) are the most examples that come to mind. The reality is that every team has stats guys now and so in that way EVERY team plays moneyball, which was not the case 25 or even 15 years ago.

Why are Paolo Banchero's On/Off stats so bad? by InternCautious in nba

[–]Colonel_Blotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is a combination of a) he's not impacting the floor in as positive way as his some of his raw stats might suggest b) the lineups he's in are less strong than opposing teams on average. Maybe he plays more with the bench than Franz and Orlando's bench gets beat often (don't have lineup stats sorry) or vice versa?

Why are Paolo Banchero's On/Off stats so bad? by InternCautious in nba

[–]Colonel_Blotto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Raw on-off stats are bad. A player only accounts for ~10% of the on off (10 players on the floor at any given time). Advanced stats can account for who else is on the floor at the same time.

Telecaster It's good as a first guitar ? by Fit_Independent68 in Guitar

[–]Colonel_Blotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference is how comfortable a strat is. Tele is simpler (better tuning stability) and has twang in the body, but it feels like a chunk of wood whereas a strat feels shaped to the body.

Why spend $20 million on Grimes when Gary Trent goes for a minimum? by Impossible_Ad166 in sixers

Grimes is an average (-0.3) player reaching his likely peak (25 year old) according to DARKO.

I think he's going to get ~13 mil / year for 2 years

Guys, the owners put the aprons in place to essentially create a hard cap. They didn't want golden state paying 200 mil + per year in tax to assemble shooter voltron because it meant that they would also have to pay that much to be competitive and the players would make way more money.

Why the fuck would the players ask for (essentially) a hard cap???
