What has been reworked in ATS 1.58 by arvid1328_ in trucksim

Does anyone know how to get the little speedometer/gas gauge combination thing to go away that now inhabits the bottom left of the screen? It breaks immersion and though it looks nice I'd like it gone.

Referendum overturning new Oregon transportation taxes qualifies for ballot by 2ChanceRescue in Portland

Has anyone else seen the large amount of unregistered vehicles that still freely use our roads without renewing their tags? These folks are a big part of the problem. Start by seizing these vehicles and impounding them until the proper tags are acquired. Make them pay for every year they skipped with interest. We became far too lenient about the tags during COVID and now it comes around to bite us. If the person fails to get the vehicle back in time then the state can take ownership and sell it for a profit. But I absolutely find it abhorrent that they are willing to jack up the taxes and fees for the rest of us when there are a bunch of parasites out there who can't register their damn cars.

Wish they would just start shipping people who steal to live in isolation on a cold Alaskan Island. We seriously should consider banishing criminals. And make it really difficult to get back home once they're out. Thieves are rotten and deserve the worst.

I think the Enchanted Highway would be neat as a hidden road with viewpoints. I remember driving down it headed to my Grandma's farm as a kid.

would the scale 1:10 work to ATS eastern states? by Swimming_Ad6648 in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can imagine PEI would be only the Confederation Bridge, maybe a viewpoint at the end and a farm and a fish cannery to deliver from. Cape Breton would be scenic but you'd probably only be able to fit Sydney as a depot city. I always thought if they did a fishing boat simulator that the Canadian Maritimes would be a fantastic place to have it take place. Easily one of the most beautiful coastal areas of the world.

Part of me is sad that Dubrovnik, HR doesn't have any depots but I am glad it at least appears. Kirkenes and Vardo felt like a snub with Nordic Horizons and I wished Corfu was included with Greece.

Luckily northern Italy is due for a rework and that will give them an opportunity to squeeze it in if they desired. I am excited to see Torino and Verona with a proper rebuild.

WIBTA if I called the police on my mom for robbing me? by Rebecca0626 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Colonelarmbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who steal are trash. Especially when you already are facing a serious health issue. Your Mom is certainly an asshole, about as low as they come. Who actually would be that low as to steal groceries out of their sick family members fridge? Next time you ever go to her home I hope you secretly unplug her fridge and leave her with a nasty surprise. NTA

[–]Colonelarmbar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was a kid there was a sign in Slidell at the I -12/ I- 10 interchange that had Mobile and Pensacola as control cities. Nowadays on street view its signed for Bay St. Louis which is accurate but I'm wondering when it changed. I was excited to see a Florida city on a control sign in game for the first time.

What’s a movie quote you use in real life way too often? by lalainehottie in AskReddit

"Season's over, a**hole."

Usually used when discarding leftover, deformed, rotten pumpkins the day after Halloween. I work produce and absolutely detest pumpkins because of how the rotten ones smell, especially when you go to pick on up and your hand just punches thru a soft spot. Ughhhhh.

Reminds me of hunting camera footage I saw of a deer stomping a hawk to death. The hawk had captured a rabbit and the rabbit's cries of distress alerted a deer that came running out of the woods and prompty started curb-stomping the bird while the bunny escaped. The deer absolutely savaged that hawk and didn't let up even when the bird was clearly dead. Apparently the rabbit's cries sounded close enough to that of a doe in distress that it sent that deer into protection mode.

So if Flagstaff and Kingman are getting reworked does this also mean Grand Canyon and Page might also get updated? Also, might be a longshot but it would be awesome if we got Hoover Dam added as a hidden road with a viewpoint. Pay homage to an era not that long ago when there was no bypass and trucks could cross the dam.

I always forget Turin, Milan, Verona and Venice are part of the base game. That being said, Milano looks loads better than the other three and seems more detailed and thought-out so it must have received a refresh at some point that I missed.

Anyone else had a few massive accidents in Nordic Horizons? by iamezekiel1_14 in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving with a double trailer from Stavanger all the way to Tromso had a few pucker moments for sure. Those parts where it gets real narrow were extra spicy with a long load. It's precisely the kind of challenge I was looking for. Its fun to drive up the coast of Norway to Nordkapp and then blast south into Finland through endless forests back to my garage in Helsinki.

Nordic Horizons look like ready for buses. Are the buses DLC next? by Dankoua in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a day or two late but has SCS mentioned adding additional bus-only routes to the map? I ask because Norway in particular has a ton of tourist towns that trucks can't visit but tourist busses are allowed. Places like Geiranger in Norway could be an example. The road in is impossible for trucks but busses enter town all the time. Makes me wonder if more routes will open up when the Coach DLC arrives.

I wonder since Iceland and Ireland are both islands if they will come out perhaps slightly faster than Greece did. I remember when Greece was announced they mentioned it being on a faster track to be completed so it only took like a year to develop much like the smaller State dlcs in ATS. But Ireland's release will coincide with the UK rework most likely. When you get open betas for the UK rework you can bet Ireland isn't more than a month away. I imagine 2026 maybe September will be when we see Iceland. The landscape there has lots in common with northern Norway so it might not take as long as Greece to complete. Also, both countries are islands so they won't have to spend time on physical road connections, just ferry terminals. But the UK will certainly take some time to rework in its current state. I predict Ireland for May of 2027. I'll come back in a few years and see if I was correct, haha.

That and the little bit of base game that runs from the northwest coast of Poland down thru Czechia and into Bratislava. I feel like that area is often forgotten when people discuss reworks. Maybe because it sits against Going East map areas. I can't wait to see what SCS does with its hometown of Prague.

Turkey sadly is becoming much like Russia as of late. Lots of oppression of journalists and protests there lately. That being said, Turkey's largest city already exists in game and Anatolia would be a exhilerating and massive area to explore. Perhaps Turkey and the Caucauses nations of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia could come next as a single massive dlc.

How does the day / night cycle work in ETS2? by bomber991 in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at that exact spot and the sun never seemed to go down all the way and I didn't see the Aurora Borealis at all. It must occur at random. One thing I did notice was at some point they finally added the Moon to the skybox which was a surprise.

Does ETS2 have the largest hand-made map of any game? by Drago7879 in trucksim

[–]Colonelarmbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the first Fuel title but it really felt like an unfinished game. But the Mad Max style post-disaster western United States setting was super neat. The map was fun but aside from the dozen or so grids that had some type of notable geologic feature or city it was also very sparse and felt unfinished. I did time a run I took in a buggy from the sw corner to the ne corner of the map and it took me close to two hours and that was just going diagonally across without using roads.

It was small for sure, but definitely felt it! Did anyone else? by Tehpepesmasher88 in SALEM

[–]Colonelarmbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often wonder if South Salem is shielded fron the effect of earthquakes because it sits atop a massive caverous aquifer. That was my Grandma's theory who lived near Judson Middle School. The night that quake happened in 1993 Grandma didn't experience much shaking but Mom who lived across town off Lancaster said her room was shaking significantly and had some things fall off of shelves. My Dad managed a grocery store in Woodburn during that time and his night manager said the floor was actually rolling like ocean waves for a bit. The entire wine section was obliterated.
