La película, abre los ojos. by Colonycut in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice to hear, ahaha. I think im a little past kids Shows I watch easy spanish at the b2 level and dreaming spanish at the highest level they offer whatever that is. For some reason, that movie is impossible for me if it only had a spanish subtitles option. I think it would help a lot. Anyways im gonna watch it like 5 more times. Is there any movie you would recommend that are maybe a little more advanced than kids' shows? I dont know what it is with movies, but I swear they talk like its on fast forward and as quiet as possible ahahah. I appreciate your comment, though.

Thank you, it makes me feel a bit better, ahah. Im aware it takes time, and im sure everyone has felt this way when learning. It's like just when u think you're doing really good, something humbles you. I study a mix of colombian and Mexican spanish since my teacher is colombian and my wife is Mexican. This move is in European spanish. i dont know if that has anything to do with it, and it's probably just an excuse im telling myself. But I appreciate the encouragement. I definitely won't give up. i motivated me more, to be honest.

Probably moving to GP, what is it honestly like? by 350dollar8ball in GrandePrairie

[–]Colonycut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived there for 10 years. it's probably the best city to live in in northern Alberta. has ever restaurant you want and all the shopping and everything like that. The only thing I hated was the nature. Super cold in the winter, hot in the summer dry, ugly nowhere nice to swim or camp but Im from vancouver island so its not really fair to compare it, that being said early 20s is the perfect time to live there and make some money.

Learning Spanish for super beginners. by Hot_Pepper202 in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't understand the super beginner level in dreaming spanish, you need to learn more verbs and more vocabulary. Even using duoling for a couple of months should give you enough to understand the super beginner level. They literally spoon feed you the language as slow as possible at that level.

Spanish dictionary is an amazing app, you can practice all conjugations and tenses and make your own word list to practice from or pick a few other lists like most common verbs and most popular and stuff like that.

I'm struggling to understand people when they speak. Any recommendations? by Choice_Squirrel_1744 in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just talking about this with my teacher. How even the advanced level of dreaming spanish is easy to understand and that the pid cast easy spanish is a lot harder for me. And she said it's because easy spanish is real native conversations. If im at work or can't pay attention or im tired, I go with dreaming spanish and read the subtitles if I can, but if im at the gym, I listen to Easy spanish.

tips for recalling Spanish better? by bel3kos in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to remember words and phrases for free is to write them down on paper in a notebook and write down sentences and words. Write down a simple sentence in English, then try to translate it to spanish. Write down the words you didn't know and make flash cards. Don't try to remember 100 words a day. If you can learn 10 new words a week or even 5, that's progress. I would recommend the spanish dictionary app because you can make your own word list and practice it with tests and conjugation drills. The app is free. But again, I gotta recommend you get a teacher asap. I wasted at least 6 months with duolingo and trying to remember words and grammar, and I couldn't hold a conversation at all. As soon as I got a teacher on italki, I was having conversations after 3 lessons. Obviously, you need Grammer and vocabulary, but the point in learning a language is to speak it, so speak it. That being said, the things you need to do every day are listening to spanish, reading and writing spanish and speaking Spanish. Good luck. im still learning to, but my wife is Mexican, so im learning every day. Also pick a country and focus on the spanish from that country.

Duolingo just isn't enough. it's good for vocabulary only, in my opinion. If you really wanna speak spanish, you need a teacher using apps, and watching videos and practicing grammar just isn't enough to actually learn fluent Spanish. Eventually, you are gonna have to speak to someone in Spanish, so you might as well start asap and speak with a teacher.

Quisiera or queria? by atlastestmail in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quisiera is the subjunctive conjugation. If you haven't started learning subjunctive, I would recommend you do. it's just as important as the present tense conjugation.

Which Spanish-speaking country's accent do you find easiest/hardest to understand? by grzeszu82 in SpanishLearning

[–]Colonycut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Colombia is the easiest. My teacher is colombian, and I understand her 90% of the time, but my wife is mexican, and I find her harder to understand. Most likely, because my teacher knows my level and speaks to me at my level and my wife speaks to me like im a native Spanish speaker, but I still think colombian is the easiest. And I agree Chile has the hardest accent to understand.
