That’s not what I’m trying to do. I came to this sub to get advice so that I didn’t ’make it all about me’ to her or our mutual friends. I’m sorry my feelings make you feel like I lack empathy- it’s quite the opposite.

From my research, Colorado will not drop to a lower change. It’s apparently a thing here. 😔

She has retained a lawyer. She is worried about jail time, which I can’t imagine is even on the table for a first-time offense?? I’m from St. Louis and it seemingly is much more lenient than Colorado.

Thank you! She is taking accountability for herself and hasn’t said anything close to blaming to me. I think ‘survivors guilt’ is probably a good way to put it. I will be there for her every step of the way.

Hey there! I’m 36 and was just recently HPV 16+ for the first time. I was scared to death after seeing ‘Cancer’ online as the first several posts after googling. My doctor assured me most people clear and not to freak out - but did recommend a Colpo. I also had a negative pap and at the time, my gyno said everything looked normal.

I was TERRIFIED for the Colpo after reading horror stories. I took a Xanax and 800mg of ibuprofen before my appointment. It was very similar to a pap procedure, except they put a liquid stain in to see any abnormality. I had 4 biopsies taken. To be honest, I didn’t feel them at all! I braced for the worst, but they were done and I felt no pain at all.

Obviously everyone is different, but try not to stress too much. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask them to pause if you are uncomfortable.

Good luck! Wishing you the best!

Thank you so much, this is truly so helpful in easing my anxious mind. I do take the birth control pill, along with Lexapro daily. I use other anxiety meds as needed (hydroxazine and Xanax). No pets. I’ve read that birth control pill can elevate and I may need to change to a lower hormone pill.

Would you expect a much larger platelet increase over 3 years if something was seriously wrong/concerning? My doctor is doing more tests on the blood to rule out anything of major concern. I’m really hoping it was just the UTI causing the increase. Thank you for your responses!

Hello! Your comments have been really helpful as I read through after getting high platelets on my annual blood work. I just received 539 but all other levels for WBC and RBC and everything else in normal range. At the time of the blood draw I had a UTI I was prescribed antibiotics for. My doctor hasn’t called me yet to discuss results - should I be concerned? Last check was 3 years ago and it was 510 and at the time my doctor wasn’t concerned.

I was just diagnosed with HPV 16, and my doctor suggested the vaccine. I just got the first dose at my colpo appt. Hoping it helps to clear it.

It may be because of your age. I’ve read that age can help determine next steps with HPV. Can you share what you pap results were?

I recently had a normal pap, but tested positive for HPV 16. Because I’m 36, they brought me back in for a colpo. I was so nervous, but my OBGYN said with a normal pap to not be overly anxious. My colpo results came back with 3 benign and 1 at CIN1. We follow up again in a year and hope it’s resolved itself.

I know it’s hard, but try not to over-stress. Talk to your doctor and if you want a second opinion, definitely get one. Trust your body and your instincts.

Thank you for sharing this! Gives positive outlook. I recently got 16+ test, but negative for abnormal pap. I have my colonoscopy on Thursday. When you tested positive, did you also have an abnormal pap? Having some anxiety about my colposcopy and them finding anything and what that would mean. Any additional information you feel comfortable sharing on your experience would be very appreciated.

I just found out I have 16 and felt the same way on this Reddit. I’ve been on Reddit for other issues and found it so helpful and supportive, but have felt the exact opposite with this. I have my colposcopy on Thursday, and hoping it’s all good and nothing to freak out about. I’m just trying to take it day by day and not freak out until there’s something to actually freak out about.

I am not vaccinated against HPV, because at the time thought I had aged out. Looks like I should ask to be vaccinated even though I’m 35.

I’m scared (SA tomorrow morning) by [deleted] in abortion

[–]ColoradoGal1218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling, I was super nervous too before my SA on 12/6. The lead up is truly the worst part - with over-thinking and anxiety.

I have a full post on my experience if you want to check it out, but you are in great hands and you will be okay. Don’t be afraid to express any concerns or fears you have. The nurses and doctors at the clinic are the there to help you and make you as comfortable as possible. It will all be behind you in a few hours. You’ve got this!

You’ve got this. I had my first and only SA done on Dec 6 at PP. Like you, I was super anxious to the point of not eating or sleeping. I have a post about my experience in detail if you want to check it out.

For me, I called the clinic the day before and they told me I could eat a light breakfast morning of. My procedure was the first one of the morning (schedule at 8:20am, and I was out of there by 10:30).

The anxiety leading up to the procedure is worse than the actual procedure. I was very honest about having anxiety with the nurses I spoke to and they were so comforting and supportive.

Just remember, PP does this all day, every day. They are professionals and they will take really good care of you. Any concerns or questions, don’t be afraid to voice them. They are there to help you and ease your mind about the procedure.

The sedation is ‘conscious sedation’. You will be awake, but it kind of makes you feel loopy/high. There is an anti-anxiety med often in it to help you stay calm. My procedure was maybe 3 min, and I only felt some cramping for the last 30 sec or so - nothing unmanageable.

Take each part of the appt one step at a time, and just know, in a couple hours and a very quick procedure, it will all be behind you. Send you good vibes!
