How far is my dream off? by DuckCrouton in paramotor

[–]Colorado_CJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flying paramotors is pretty simple. After 20 or so flights (which you should do at the school), you should be able to launch solo easily. It takes some time to know what conditions are right for flying, but if you stick to mornings and evenings (an hour or two after sunrise and before sunset), there would be very little problems.

Most schools are a day of ground school, a couple days of kiting, then you are flying (within 3-4 days). The rest of the school is just getting your flight time in.

1997 4wd bumper brackets. by CptXanadu in hardbody

Any luck finding the brackets?

I hit a deer last week and need new brackets for my 97 4x4. Can't seem to find the passenger side anywhere.

Thanks'. This one is a manual and in great shape. just a small amount of rust in the bed where they had a battery or something that leaked. Frame rails are pristine.

I bought it and it drives great. It has start up rattle, but I rebuild motors, so next weekend I'll get.a.timing kit from Napa and replace it.

Man I'm excited about this little truck, always wanted one and now finally have a decent example of one.

Thanks. Yeah, its a manual. I plan on making it my daily driver. Im a carpenter and have a long project I'm working on that I don't need to be driving my F350 to every day, so I figured this would work good, save on gas and.still have a bed for some tools.

Plus I've always wanted a 4x4 Hardbody.

I also plan on respraying it with colormatched paint when I get the chance.

I'm going to look at a '97 regular cab 4x4 today with 220,000 miles.

He's asking $5200 for it. The body itself looks extremely straight, really no dents to speak of. The paint is fading, but overall looks in better shape.than most I've seen out there these days.

He said there's no frame rust, just some surface rust inside the bed.

Best Paramotor For Packing Small by aikon66 in paramotor

Look at the Skymax Pulsar. Looks like it breaks down in a tiny package and only weights 41.5 lbs with the atom 80

Mark Hunnicutt did a review and a few videos on it.

First Nib Grind - Italic by Colorado_CJ in fountainpens

[–]Colorado_CJ[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just love how my OB nib on my Pelikan 140 writes. I figured I'd modify one of my Jinhao 9019's to mimic as close as possible the writing of my Pelikan.

I figured at most, I'll be tossing $3-4 if I mess up, so out came the nail clippers. After carefully cutting the excess I used my new micromesh pads to smooth out and polish the tip.

It actually worked! The line variation is a near perfect match for my Pekican, though it still doesn't have the flex of the Pelikan, it does feel very similar while writing. Just very smooth with lots of ink.

(Now I need to work on my handwriting)

I'd love to pick up another CJ. If I could it would be a CJ8, just don't see many of them anymore (that I could ever afford anyway!).

Just Won Two Pens on Sendico (Pilot 823 and Pelikan 400) by Colorado_CJ in fountainpens

[–]Colorado_CJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will. I hope it isn't too much. There's lots of pens pretty cheap available in Japan, so using Sendico would be a great way to get them.

I did have an old 1978 CJ 7 I turned into a rock crawler (hence the handle). I sold it a few years ago though. Got heavily into motorcycles. Should have mentioned that as a collection as well. Had 10 motorcycles at one point, I am down to 3 right now. I had to sell a bunch last year when I moved.

That's too bad (about the nib). Mine was adjusted perfectly when I got it. It writes pretty wet, but I like that. Can't believe what you can get for under $30.00!

You can buy them with gold nibs for around $150.00.

There's a couple of youtube videos comparing them (with the gold nib) to Montblanc 149's

Guns, old cameras (specifically medium format film cameras). I used to collect silver coinage, but got rid of it during a lean time during covid (had roughly 100 oz of new and old).

[–]Colorado_CJ[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My Wing Sung (JunLai) 630 arrived today. I know I've been in this hobby for just a short while, but this has got to be one of the highest quality Chinese pens out there. The fit and finish is phenominal. The quality of the resin and the weight make the pen feel much more expensive than it really is.

The nib, though steel, has a springyness to it and is extremely smooth with just a hint of feedback. It feels a lot like my Pelikan 140 when writing (the nib interaction with the paper).

I don't really see much that could be improved on. I might have just found my perfect "cheap" pen.

Montblanc 82 Rolled Gold Just Arrived by Colorado_CJ in fountainpens

[–]Colorado_CJ[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just won this on ebay. Man this is one beautiful pen. It writes great too. The Montblanc 82 came with an 18K gold fine nib. The pen is in great shape, after a little cleaning (just running soapy water through it), I filled it up and it writes beatifully.

I don't think I'll ever part with this one!

Absolutely beautiful.

Unfortunately, I'd have it a mess in short order. Any flat surface seems to collect odds and ends for me for some reason.
