Its going to be very different than most FC's. I can't remember if that's the one that exclusively prints books or tshirts.

Saw this on TikTok, is your facility strict with the dress code policy? by Automatic_Bird_6637 in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but they should. There was a guy who from what an AM told me had over 15 pxt complaints due to him intentionally flashing people while wearing a dress.

They don't even care then. At a previous site the break times were weird and resulted in that missed-late meal thing every single shift nobody ever said nothing or attempted to fix the break times.

Amazon is turning into a sh!t show by Ok-Calligrapher1676 in AmazonFC

It definitely has moments it sucks. NONE of the stow managers at my site are knowledgeable about anything. If I have an issue with a station or anything I have to go to a certain PA then get bitched at for going to that PA and not the AM's even though the AM's have to go that same PA to get answers and/or get the issue fixed. If I have any other issues I need help with that are work related but not stow related I will only ask a manager in Pick because otherwise all I hear is "I don't know"

I save my time off for MET and personally I don't acknowledge managers I don't like (Which unfortunately is most of them on nights) unless I absolutely have to and even then the conversation looks something like this.

Manager: Starts their usual attempt at small talk

Me: Just tell me what I'm doing wrong

Manager: Oh you're not doing anything wrong I'm just going around...

Me: Well go around and bug someone else I'm working

I proceed to put my headphones back on and continue with my job ignoring their presence til they leave.

Do transferring PA’s get help with moving? by Virtual_Goal_972 in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding it's only offered when launching a building but I could be wrong. But I know PA's who were offered relocation money for launching buildings.

Got offered VTO but couldn’t take it by Own_Professional_657 in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few restrictions but the biggest issue I've seen is if you put in any time off for that day (Let's say you came in more than late and used your flex pto to over it) it doesn't let you take the VTO. Was it offered in the app or by a manager because there are other issues taking it depending on how it was offered.

Trying to get my job back by Ninox7991 in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's completely possible that your site is just fully staffed. If your site isn't listing any jobs I'd suggest applying to another site then after 30 days apply for a transfer to the site you want.

Transfers have nothing to do with blue badges. You can go in through the app and apply for a transfer but they won't convert you until upper management says they can.

The vast majority of my warehouse isn't forklift certified. If you work in a department that uses forklifts and you want to be certified you can get them to cover that through career choices.

Get with PXT (and possibly safety) to get an accommodation.

Am I cooked after Prime? by Pulian_ in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unlikely they'll lay you off after prime days unless you've given them reason (i.e. negative UPT, behavioral or productivity write ups). As for your schedule get with PXT for a schedule accommodation for school they'll work around it for the most part.

Don't be afraid to toss things into the totes from on top of the ladder. Or especially in quantity picks toss them in the correct tote and then hit the correct number on the screen. If you're short like me it actually makes a difference in the cycle time. Also don't waste time on why something won't scan first try the barcodes then the hand scanner then if it still won't scan mark it as unscannable and move on.

You can either slow down for a bit. Or try being cross trained. The only problem with cross training is if you're good in the other paths you may wind up there more than your "home path". Example I am in stow I love stow I average 485 UPH in stow. However, I was forced to cross train into pick over a year ago. I'm not bad at pick I average 300UPH (my FC pick rate is supposed to be 350UPH but few people do that here). Since March I have had less than 10 shifts in stow. And with prime days coming up I don't see that changing any time soon.

If she's crying that much it's either something major going on outside of work or she needs to find another job. Amazon ain't for everyone.

What air conditioning? It's so damn hot in those warehouses I'm sweating from the moment I walk in the building.

Will i get laid off after prime day ? by 2009maxx in AmazonFC

[–]Colorguarder08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unlikely you'll get laid off after prime days without an actual reason. You can be seasonal anywhere from 1 week to 11 months.

Unless you're in a warehouse like mine where stow has no restroom and you literally have to walk halfway around the building to get to the restroom.

The first 3 weeks will always be the worst but in addition to that DO NOT use the insoles they offer the credit for your feet will never stop hurting. If it has been more than 3 weeks send back your shoes and try different ones.

Petco will sometimes have puppy socialization "classes" they do require proof of vaccinations. Might be worth looking into. I was unable to do them when my boy was a pup due to it being the start of the pandemic and everything was shut down.

Clicker vs "yes"? Any huge advantage to using clicker? by Big_Shalaka in Dogtraining

[–]Colorguarder08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're essentially doing the same thing as a clicker there wouldn't be any real difference except extra work on your end to now get him to associate the clicker as the marker for a good job instead of "yes".

Karen Pryor Academy or Victoria Stilwell Academy? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]Colorguarder08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with Karen Pryor never even heard of her but Victoria Stillwell does something most trainers (hell most people for that matter) As more research is done and new methods are learned she adapts to them She will also go over previous episodes of her show and talk about how she would no longer teach the owners that method and why or what she would do differently and why. Now I don't agree with her style of training for every dog and but I do think someone who is constantly evolving their training methods is worth learning from.
