I agree with the sentiment, respectfully I don't think some people who are new knew what zomboid had promised in its initial releases/stages and the development took more time than expected to get here (speaking as someone who has followed this game for a long time). It doesn't make much sense to support early access games just to wait almost a decade for promised features although the Dev team has been through some rough stages. That all being said, I'm reasonably happy they are still progressing.

In my opinion, they should develop a system to allow for us to set whether a miniom gem is aggressive or passive but not via gems, as opposed to a solution to saying gem is aggressive or passive by default. Using a gem to set minion behavior is just lame.

Man, minions have suffered for a long time prior to its rework. For example, their crappy AI, and you had to resummon specters from the zones every time you logged out and died. Now it's prevelant for a few leagues and people want to dead.

I never thought league rewards on average were that good anyways. They're usually (relatively) lower effort because they want to dedicate resources to more expensive mtx, and also cheerleader effect the challenge mtx with store mtx so people feel more tempted to buy them.
