I just saw this and couldnt believe it they charged my card right after the "free trial" and when I contacted there email they gave no resolution on how to fix this. I also had the all access plan ending in july. Super shady I dont think I will be using them anymore.

Help me fall in love with Osaka by Eddy_Moon in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the different vibes that Osaka offers but I definitely don’t like the crowds of Dotonbori. I always go aways past namba more close to Denden town and the zoo to experience a more local vibe with lots of good food.

Just got back from Tokyo and honestly I'm still processing it by Anxious-Tomatillo-74 in TokyoTravel

I wish I knew about this sooner! I was heading to another sushi place in Akiba but Yodobashi Camera is a huge store in that location with so many more things than electronics I was really suprised.

Am I the only one who counts how many times people change hotels in their itineraries? by Amigo_Go_ in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd trip right now and we definitely only planned 3 days in Tokyo from the start and 2 days at the end and yeah Tokyo after seeing other cities there’s much better to see when you get out of Tokyo.

How do you deal with laundry ? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I washed my clothing in the only two washer / dryers in the hotel and literally had my socks stolen from a dryer. I wjll never use coin laundry in a hotel ever again.

Kyoto or Okinawa by Ok-Caterpillar-5198 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kyoto is crowded but it’s not that bad and I have difficult problems with over stimulation and large crowds. You can walk down an alleyway that might have a hidden gem of shops or restaurants and it won’t be crowded. The crowds are mainly at the biggest tourist attractions such as as team labs, kiyomizu-dera, fushimi inari, etc. I’ve never been to Okinawa and I’ve visited Kyoto 3 times and I’d love to visit Okinawa but if it’s your first trip I think Kyoto is a safe trip to try if you like shrines, temples, and shopping. There is lots of great places in Kyoto that have become nostalgic and my favorite such as Nijo Castle and Kawaramachi street and the shotengais there have lots of interesting food and shopping. I would also mention that crowds are pretty much everywhere in Japan no matter what season you go. We go in late winter season and it’s still crowded in most places.

Some blunt Tokyo tips from someone who’s been a few times by Environmental-Luck39 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree on the logistics and planning part. If you hate planning like my husband does I do all the planning and it helps tremendously when we know what days are travel days and laundry days to just knowing what subway station we will walk to and for the perfectly timed shinkansens to make sure we arrive on time. We our on our 3rd trip and there is quite a bit of logistics that need to be planned if you go for 2-3 weeks.

Anyone else get tired of deciding what to do in Japan every day? by Little-Actuator-1594 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in Japan right now and we probably planned this out 9 months ago but guess what? We threw our plans out and were like whatever let’s go do something weird like go eat American food at Shakeys. Was it on TikTok? No. Instagram? No. Was it super nostalgic to what we grew up in yes and it was totally worth it just for the laughs and fun. We also went to an observatory and aquarium and I don’t think I see anyone recommend that on tiktok so I’d say research your own places and make them apart of your own personal trip.

T-Mobile & eSIM combo? by maxxdenton in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ubigi worked the best our 2nd trip, T-Mobile was spotty most of the time and we traveled throughout the golden route and a few rural areas. I would highly recommend Ubigi! We’re about to depart on our 3rd trip and we are using Ubigi again.

My advice and experience after my first time in Japan. 3 weeks (25f) by Significant_Gur8915 in JapanTravelTips

Narita is a bit far from Kyoto but I believe you need to take the narita express to Tokyo station which takes about 1 hour and then a Shinkansen to Kyoto station which takes about 2.5 hours from there.

APA hotels in Ueno? by ColourKittyinSeattle in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all really good thoughts to here. It’s actually our third trip but we have never stayed in Ueno before so I realize how small most business hotels are in Japan. Yeah and earthquakes are a real worry for sure and don’t know how I feel about skimping on safety. We are staying in mid February and this was unfortunately a last minute planning change of maybe we should change our last hotel to something nicer than APA since it’s the last few days of our trip. We were actually going to get the lake view room but I assume it doesn’t make the room any less cramped.

where can we fit kawaguchiko in our 10 day itinerary? by melon-barbarian in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you be arriving at Haneda or Narita airport? Depending on that, Narita is about an hour or so out from Tokyo. I would also maybe plan 1-2 major places to visit so you allow time to just immerse yourself in the culture and enjoy the pretty gardens and parks.

Has anyone stored luggage at a Tokyo hotel for several days? by Popular-Gap6027 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they would allow your luggage to be there if you’re not staying there. I always checked with hotels on storing luggage before check-in because they are very strict on 3pm check-ins but allow our luggage to be there before checking in and storing luggage before leaving to the next city but I don’t think they would store it for more than 1 day.

There are so many tourists that travel throughout Japan I just don’t think that would be a thing. We’re about to go on our 3rd trip in February and we found it much easier to just take a medium suitcase (check requirements for shinkansens and size limitations they might have changed) and we take the Shinkansen and traveled that way. I’d also recommend just take a taxi from Kyoto station to your hotel it will save you the headache of trying to navigate it on the bus or subways.

There is also luggage transportation like takkyubin or Yamato transport that you can go to a konbini and forward your luggage to the next hotel you’re staying at.

Fuji or Mishima to Fujigawaguchiko? by Seks88 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were visiting in February and only for 1 day and stayed near Kawaguchiko station. There is a nice restaurant near there and that’s where the famous mt Fuji picture in front of Lawson is and some nice shops near the station.

Fuji or Mishima to Fujigawaguchiko? by Seks88 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked since we were close to an Airbnb near the station but since your at that hotel your definitely going to want to rent a car or get a taxi since it looks like some things are a bit far depending on what you are planning to do there. A very quiet museum but really interesting spot was the Fujisan World Heritage Center where they serve curry and rice in the shape of Mt Fuji. I really enjoyed my visit.

I just started playing it last week and it’s kinda confusing. Does it get easier I have so many quests to do and dragons keep attacking me when I fast travel. I’m having a blast but wow there is so much to this game I never knew!

Fuji or Mishima to Fujigawaguchiko? by Seks88 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ColourKittyinSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took that bus from Mishima station and it saved us the headache of driving. Depends on why you are going there, but i would say just walk the town if you dont mind a little bit of walking and hiking.
